So Chay's home from his neuter, but he keeps licking the site just like he's not supposed to. Is there a way, short of getting an e-collar for him, to keep him from licking? Or should I do what I can for now and get a collar for him when the vet's office opens tomorrow? How much licking is too much licking, since the site is obviously sore, and its his instinct to lick?

I know the ecollar but there is a soft collar you can make that would work...

The sell ecollars at petsmart.. and some are open late, so you might be able to get one tonight.

Hmm...I didn't know that. We only have a PetCo here, but surely they'd have one...He's being good right now though. He'd probably go crazy if I put one on him now while he's calm, but I will keep that in mind! Thanks!

How would I go about making one, just in case?

Hopefully you won't need the collar. Bijou did lick a bit but the vet told us unless he was licking excessively not to worry. Bijou didn't even have stitches. They just pulled to two sides of the incision together and let it heal naturally.

He's leaving it alone more, now, which is good. I worried more about night time, when I'm asleep, but I think he'll be okay. Thanks!
