A card for sure, I got one when I was young and cherished it for years. Maybe a statue from Hallmark, something cute, say, with a cat or something would be nice.

I have a recently turned 13 year old daughter and I would prefer she receive a stuffed animal or chocolate rather than something more personal like jewelry. (Of course, who cares what I would prefer? LOL)

When you're 13, the last thing you want is to be treated like a kiddo with stuffed animals!! The problem these days is that kids are trying to grow up far too fast - at least they're maturing physically faster than they are mentally. I'd go with the chocolates, yes, but I don't see anything wrong with say a pair of earrings or even a nice bracelet. When I was 13 my boyfriend brought me a silver dolphin bracelet and I treasured that thing! I still have it
Actually, I still ahve the wind-chimes he brought me back from Greece once AND the Terry Pratchett novel I recieved for a birthday. That guy knew me so very very well
We're still really good friends - and to think we once dated 10 years or so ago!! He's a sweetie that one - his girlfriend is a really lucky lady
Aaaaah the nostalgia!

Ooo! Ooo! Yes, a stuffed animal of some sort, small though...nothing huge.
Chocolates is good.
CD that she was going to get
DVD of her fav movie.
I would avoid all jewerly. Wait until she's in college or beyond and she's dating a guy with a job to give her that stuff, LOL.

I don't understand why jewellery is such a huge thing? Can someone explain that to me? If it's just a pair of earrings or a bracelet or a necklace or somesuch, I don't see why that's such a big thing - it's not like he'd get on one knee and ask her to marry him at 12 years old is it?
It doesn't even have to be expensive jewellery, just a trinket affair that she's gunna think is cool (do kids still use that word these days - or are they on a "wicked" or "bad" thing at the mo?)

I definitely like the DVD idea though, that's gotta be a hit!

Thanks for all the good suggestions. He's still not sure what he's going to do, if anything.
I'm just being a meddling mom.
