dry food doesnt really clean treeth since evan the big kibble sizes only get bite into not chewed( some do have ingrediants to help ) ... Wet food does not promote bad teeth ... it doesnt help them but it doesnt stick like dry so it doesnt harm either..

Ideally an all wet diet

I do think wet food will stick to teeth. I occasionally find food stuck in my cats' teeth when I brush them. It gets in the little crevices.

Regular tooth brushing is best for dental health. There is no truth to the old wives' tale that chewing on something hard and crunchy promotes strong teeth. Teeth are going to be as hard as they are regardless of what is chewed.

ah ok, thats good then. I had talked to my mom, and she was told (by her vet) that her dog's teeth never hardened because she always wet his kibble and allowed it to become soft .

Sorry, but that's nonsense! Ask any mother who is nursing a teething baby and she'll tell you that a baby's teeth are plenty hard when they first come in! They don't get hard by chewing on things, they just come that way by nature as long as they animal is healthy.

Food gets stuck in the teeth sometimes, no matter what kind it is. Dry food is worse than wet in this regard because of the carbohydrate content. Giving a cat dry food is like eating crackers all day and never brushing your teeth. Yecch!

Raw food is good to help clean their teeth, especially chicken necks and gizzards. Routine dental cleanings should be done on the schedule recommended by your vet.

Please read this article by a vet, the opinion that eating a wet food diet will predispose a cat to dental disease is changing.
