We are having our "Holiday" party, and I am on the committee I'm making centerpieces and have been asked to do Bingo again this year. Last year we had only about 40 people at the party, but this year there will be closer to 100 and so I am thinking that there should be a few more games.

We have a roll of raffle tickets for door prizes, but I'd like to do at least one other game. the raffle prizes are all of the centerpieces, and some gift certificates.

Anyone have any ideas for games that can be played with a group that large?

Also, there is a game I played at a party a long time ago where people were asked if they had certain objects (not sure what the game was called)...and if they had it they got the prize. The items asked for were like a 2 dollar bill and I don't even know what else. If anyone has any ideas for things to ask for on a game like that I would appreciate any help I can get.

The game I like best for office Christmas parties is simple. It's called "The Boss Gives Everyone The Rest of the Day Off So They Can Party With Their Real Friends."

LOL

Thanks everyone! Please keep em coming! I am especially fond of the "boss gives everybody the day off" idea, but alas we are public employees and can't do that one without utilizing our Holiday or Vacation time. I have to work the day of the party and the day after (starting at 0600 hrs) so I would really like the day off!

I like the trivia one too!

How about an old classic? Try playing "Don't Touch The Floor"

Okay let's see... the object is usually to get out of the room. You can put anything on the floor to step on. That's about it.

An old mingler classic: Put objects (like Christmassy objects - Tree, Lights, Snowman, Snowflake), Famous People, Movies, Songs, and the like on stickers or sticky notes and put them on the back of each person. Then they have to ask people questions about what or who they are, and try to guess. The rules are that it must be a yes/no question, and you can only ask a person one question (as long as the group is big enough, which is sounds like you have). It's a good starter game for a party because it forces people to mingle.

So you just climb over chairs and stuff? Sounds fun....won't work for my office party this year...we get to dress up fancy shmancy and go to a fancy smancy expensive restaurant! I'll save it for a Friday...then we'll play the boss gives everyone the day off game. We love that game at my office!

That's a great game. The next best thing is the "Boss lets everyone go home early" game.

Okay- this is the game we used to play at my old job, and at my family's house. It's called the Yankee Swap at my families, and the Grab at my old work.

Every one buys a present, not gender specific, and wraps it up. Everyone draws a number. Number one goes first and gets to pick a present. They open it up. The next person gets a present and opens it. If they don't like it, they can take the other person gift and give them theirs. The next person gets the choice of all the open gifts, etcetera. The person who picked number one gets the choice of all the gifts at the end. My office used to play it that you DON't open the gift you pick unless you are keeping it- you give it to the person whose gift you are taking to open. I personally prefer it the first way.
We also played the "cubiewed" game- how well do you know the person you sit with? We also played hangman with holiday themes, family feud- someone took a survey at the office to use in it! We also had a sunshine raffle- people donated gifts, and you could buy tickets to put in for gifts. The proceeds were used for the sunshine fund- to buy gifts for births, people who left, flowers for weddings or funerals etc.. You could also use the money for a charity as well. We also had a scavenger hunt- each group was given a list of things to find and we had to find them within a certain time period.

I love the yankee swap one, we did that in my Navy Reserve Unit one year and it was a big hit. I have been racking my brain to come up with ideas today...we talked about doing a how well do you know your co-worker game...but decided that all the interesting things were just too gossipy.

Thanks everyone! Tomorrow morning we are having another committee meeting, I am going to print this thread and bring it along! It's way past my bed time...so I am going to bed.
