I posted a while back about my kittens eyes. That problem after we got it medicine cleared up wonderfully and she is doing well.

But now my older cat Lovey whom is 8 coming up on 9 in march is acting strange. She's gained weight, she's a big cat to begin with but she had lost a little. Near her tail when you pet her she meows and tries to bite whomever touched her, the lower back thing has been going on for about 6 months or so maybe longer. And now also in that spot are two small patches of fur missing from where i'm guessing she somehow got them out. I've also noticed that she doesnt talk to me as much, she used to meow at me all the time now i dont hear a thing when i talk to her. Nor does she move around much anymore, just sleeps in the chair in our living room...

My mother is telling me she wont take her to the vet just to be told that shes going to need expensive medicines, and more regular vists to the vet. Because 'Its just a cat.' My mother was raised to where their animals were never taken to vets...I dont think thats right and i've tried fighting her on it but she wont listen to me..

I'm begging her to take her in january when we have the money but i'm worried that if we do the vet will tell us something bad..I know that if we cant afford the medicine and the vet tells us that its hurting her..I may just have to make one of the hardest choices in my life and have them put her down..to save her pain....

I'm really worried about Lovey, as she is older and overweight..and has never been like this before..Any advice as to what I should do?Or what could be wrong?

Either you or Mom need to take her to the vet ... ASAP ... I would ask the vet for a senior panel and a thourgh exam

Well there is a place near here I could walk to but it would be hard considering her weight. Its an emergency place..but my mom would be pissed because we dont have the money and this place makes you pay like 30 something up front..and I doubt they'd let it be taken care of later cause i'm only 16..

I talked to my mother. Shes saying the soonest we could take her would be in January. But now she's acting weird. She NEVER tries to sit near me while i'm on the computer and tonight she's not just sitting near me she is on the computer desk. Her breathing is weird, I cant tell if its cause she's purring..It seems more rapid then normal.

She's sweet by nature, has been since we adopted her. Hence her name..but now its just weird how shes acting.

I'm going to call the vet myself today and ask if theres anyway to waive the fee's untill a later time.

I totally understand the situation you're in, and I agree that your kitty needs to see a vet. My vet knows us well (because we have 7 kitties and we are paranoid about any little thing, so we visit often, lol) and sometimes will let us pay at a later date due to our income benig cut in half (my father passed, so it's just me and my mom) and they know us well.
And I totally understand the money problem. I don't have a solution for you or any advice other than support and hope that your kitty cat can see a vet as soon as possible.

take a cab. If you spend your own money on this may be your mom will be realize how important animals are to you. Call the vet before you go, explain the situation and let him/her know how much you can afford. Many vets (one that have a heart at least) will take this into consideration. My vet threw in some free stuff when he found out I was paying for Vetinary care with my student aid loans.
