Discrimination???(Long vent post) - Page 2

Bridget, I see that same discrimination over & over For instance, I found 3 recent articles on the "after-Katrina" animal situations and they almost entirely spoke of dogs and scarcely mention cats And I find that people are more open about their dislike of cats - it seems to be a social "no-no" to admit that you don't care for dogs (don't get me wrong - I love dogs, esp. the "stand-up-ears" breeds, such as cattle dogs, german sheps, etc.).
On a side note, I have been doing my own little surveys when reading local papers and it's been pretty universal that dogs are advertised much more heavily in the classifieds, which means that cat breeders, IMO, are not over-producing nearly to the extent that dog breeders are. this has been true throughout the nation - the closest the numbers came were 115 dog ads vs. 13 cat ads in the Reno Gazette Journal. The saddest numbers, to me, were in the Carolinas & Kentucky - so many dogs, mixes and purebreds, were offered, and too, too often, listed FREE Why FREE? which means that any creep is FREE to adopt the animal for whatever use they want..........

Thanx for the info as sad as it is..... .....The free animal to me seems sketchy too...But it is wierd that mutt dogs are listed in the paper....but the millions of stray cats aren't......That is very strange.....

You go, girl!! And know that you have the Force of TCS behind you all the way!!! Maybe you can post a thread in the Cat Lounge, when you do the educator evaluations!

The school that allows an instructor to fail to teach about cats is sorely negligent. A vet tech WILL need this information.

Exactly...ecspecially w/ student like me who are going to be working w/ primarily cats .......

But honestly I have learned more just by reading the breeding section of TCS than I ever learned w/ that nut case....lol

Kind of a hijack, but y'all should be happy to know that there is a vet who only takes feline patients in the town next to mine. She calls herself "the Cat Doctor." Of course, nothing against dogs is intended. I just think its nice that someone specializes in cats for a change.

I'm upset twice For one, I have three female cats and they are all three lovebugs. One is my ultimate lovebug, moreso than my five boys put together. She hugs me when I come home from work, loves EVERYONE, adopts any little animal that comes in my house...she's an absolute gem.

Also, I had pomeranians growing up and they were absolutely wonderful. They never growled or nipped at ANYONE. They were sweet cuddlebugs too (though our male did like to pick fights with dogs bigger than he all the time). Like any other dog, they were a product of their rearing and socialization. The only problem with poms is they're headstrong and have 'little dog syndrome,' but most people don't bother trying to train them because they're small (just like chihuahuas, yorkies, and other little dogs). So they get nippy and controlling...like any other dog with no guidance who's allowed to get away with what they want!

So I went in for my final today...........

I did good i think...Identifying 100 dogs......(no cats)

Anyhoo my slacker teacher didnt even show up for the final.....she had a friend of hers watch over the final...And because she wasnt there...We couldnt take our evaluation of her because she wasnt there to sign off on it......

:censor::censor::censor:.....So i lost my chance to tell the school that she was a bad teacher...because...she is a bad teacher...How freekin fair is that.....

Well I guess its off to write the dean and the head of my department...This women and her ignorant and biased views should not be teaching people going into a health proffession

I was so excited when I saw the evaluation lady come in...But alas.....

Sorry just needed to freak out a bit.......No worries though, I most definitly will be heard one way or the other.....

Go ahead and write to the dean and the department head. It might not change things for you, but for future students, and cats!

Just to update you all.....

I am in the midst of writing the appropriate letter.....Though i have a feeling that she was already fired...since she was listed as on mf my teachers next year for
"animal profession ethics and law"....Yeah she would have been great for that... But now I have a totally different teacher and the class is on a totally different day.....

The issue I have now is...I don't have my final grade for that class yet.......I have all the rest of my grades....except for that idiots...errrrrr.....

Its not such a big deal...Just that I wanted to know my grades before x-mas....and the fact I can't reapply for financial aide till I have all my grades....(another thing I wanted to get done this week).....

I had my final a freekin week ago...whats the hold up.....I had my mondays final (parasitology) final grade on Tuesday
