Hi everyone.
I need help!

My mom used to make very simple no bake candied balls of dough with either cherry, almond, orange and vanilla extracts when I was a kid. They are awfully sweet, but I thought I'd give it a shot and try making some since I used to love them so much. Like I really need more sweets.

As some of you know, I don't have any contact with my mom or any family, and she hasn't made them in years, as far as I know, so I was wondering if any of you have a similar recipe.

They aren't made of regular cherries... I think she specifically used cherry/almond/orange/vanilla flavouring or extract. And they were formed into unbaked balls of dough and kept in the refrigerator.

If any of you could help me out a bit, that would be AWESOME! Thanks so much!

Thanks, Tracey. It's not quite the same, but I am looking for a peanut butter one as well.

Kelly, allricipes.com is actually where I started. That's where I got my amazing chocolate and peanut butter recipe.

try this one... I don't think it's what you're looking for either. It actually sounds like your mother took a recipe like this and modified it to suit her and her family rather than it being a conventional recipe. goodness knows I do it too... my cointreau-choclate mousse actually started as a conventional chocolate-coffe-whisky mousse!

Yeah, I've modified my own recipes as well... I'm certain that's what she did. But thanks for your efforts!

Yeah, right. Get my brother involved and then we'll have a full on war.
Nice thought though, Fran.

I'd suggest starting with a rum ball recipe, using ground almonds as your flour for the dough. Then add the flavourings of your choice.
I like making the rum balls, then some Frangelico ones with ground hazelnuts as a base.
You could use a cherry liquor such as Desirono for flavouring.
Heck why stop there! How about some Kahlua ones rolled in white chocolate flakes? Then hic shome Ouzo onesh wif ground aniseeds and burp thenGrand Marnier for for for umm orange then hic bompf (go to sleep where you land on the floor).
Have fun and don't be shy about sending some to your TCS friends!
