My Hubby and I took our 10 year old grandaughter to see it last saturday. We ALL loved it!

Yes. C.S Lewis was devoutly religious and tied his most of his stories to Christianity. The movie was excellent, and very true to the story. The special effects were amazing. The animals don't look CGI, they look like real talking animals. Can't wait to own the DVD.Originally Posted by LilleKat
It's actually interesting to see.... but y boyfriend brought this little idea up when we were talking about the move - about how very similar to the bible the Chronicles of Narnia really are. Now he did give me some explanation as to which characters corresponded with who, but it was very insightful.... just not something you would think of while reading the books. I'll certainl be reading the books again with that in mind just to see what I think of it with that little viewpoint.
I kept expecting to hear James Earl Jone's voice!! hehe I was suprised to find out the voice was Liam Neeson, I just didn't place it.Originally Posted by white cat lover
IMO, Aslan looked like Simba from The Lion King.Sorry, but my mind kept wandering during the movie. I had been watching The Lion King with Lily before we left....
I've been wondering that very same thing, menagerie! What IS Turkish delight?!Originally Posted by menagerie mama
Hey, old thread, new question....for those that have seen the old movie (I'm not sure if they mention this in the new movie) but what IS Turkish Delight? Is it real or something they made up? I've always wanted to know, and try some!??

THANKS!!! I'm gonna try making some and when I'm done I'll talk in an English accent and have a spot of tea with it!All my life (or at least every time I've watched that movie) I've wondered what it was, now I'm gonna try it!
sounds kind of like gummy bears or gumdrops type of candy...which i really dislike. i probably wouldn't like it. when i didn't know what it was, i imagined it was my favorite candy - so did my mother. we were both a little disappointed to find out what it really was, because neither of us would've been tempted by that!Originally Posted by menagerie mama

I always imagined Turkish Delight to be kind of like divinity. Something light and fluffy and sweet. That recipe reads like a very difficult version of jello! LOL!Originally Posted by laureen227

You guys are missing out on the Turkish Delight! It's yummy and sweet and the real stuff is quite expensive. It's like thick, sticky Jello cubes flavoured with rose water and lemon and covered in icing sugar.
