People have seen that I have the original movie and they've asked me about it, and when I said I loved it, of course they want to see it, right? Well, it's not for everyone, the original can be very boring if you're not patient with low budget films! But, as a kid, I read the books and after that I got the movie so I can't wait to see the new, more exciting (I'm sure) version!!!!

I'll certainl be reading the books again with that in mind just to see what I think of it with that little viewpoint.
Yes. C.S Lewis was devoutly religious and tied his most of his stories to Christianity. The movie was excellent, and very true to the story. The special effects were amazing. The animals don't look CGI, they look like real talking animals. Can't wait to own the DVD.

Bri(my lil sis) & I went to the first showing of it on Fri. night. It was an excellent movie, although I kept getting bored. I was bored because I was dead tired since somebody's white kitty was sick most of the night. All well, my baby got better & I got to see the Chronicles of Narnia, what more could a girl ask for?

IMO, Aslan looked like Simba from The Lion King.
Sorry, but my mind kept wandering during the movie. I had been watching The Lion King with Lily before we left....

Hey, old thread, new question....for those that have seen the old movie (I'm not sure if they mention this in the new movie) but what IS Turkish Delight? Is it real or something they made up? I've always wanted to know, and try some!

I'm so glad you liked it!! We saw it last weekend and LOVED it, too!!! In fact, I have a new favorite-movie-of-all-time now!! It is PHENOMENAL.
I bawled for the last 30 minutes of it and couldn't stop crying even after the movie was long over. It just really hit home, ya know? Sooooo wonderful!!!!

I've been wondering that very same thing, menagerie! What IS Turkish delight?!

....Ooh, I just did an online search and found this! I guess it is a real thing...lol! And I thought it was a dinner-type food, but it's CANDY! Sounds kinda yummy, doesn't it?

Turkish delight was quite a treat in Narnia, and still is around the world. Try this recipe to make some of your own.
Ingredients:

2 cups granulated sugar
1 1/4 cups water
1 lemon, the peel cut into strips, the juice squeezed and strained
1 orange, the peel cut into strips, the juice squeezed and strained
4 tablespoons unflavored powdered gelatin
2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
What to do:

Dissolve the granulated sugar in half of the water over medium heat.

Add the strips of lemon and orange peel and the juices.

Bring the mixture to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes.

Soak the gelatin in the mixture for 5 to 10 minutes.

Strain the mixture into a shallow, dampened pan or onto platters, and let it set for 24 hours.

Cut the candy into 1-inch squares.

Sift the confectioners's sugar and cornstarch together into a shallow dish.

Roll the pieces of candy in the mixture.

Store the squares in boxes with more confectioners' sugar and cornstarch between each layer.

THANKS!!! I'm gonna try making some and when I'm done I'll talk in an English accent and have a spot of tea with it!
All my life (or at least every time I've watched that movie) I've wondered what it was, now I'm gonna try it!

sounds kind of like gummy bears or gumdrops type of candy...which i really dislike. i probably wouldn't like it. when i didn't know what it was, i imagined it was my favorite candy - so did my mother. we were both a little disappointed to find out what it really was, because neither of us would've been tempted by that!

I always imagined Turkish Delight to be kind of like divinity. Something light and fluffy and sweet. That recipe reads like a very difficult version of jello! LOL!

I loved the books as a kid, and every time since when I have read them. Just waiting to get to the movie! I am so glad to hear that it is true to the books.

You guys are missing out on the Turkish Delight! It's yummy and sweet and the real stuff is quite expensive. It's like thick, sticky Jello cubes flavoured with rose water and lemon and covered in icing sugar.

Maybe I should buy it instead of make it.....I don't know if that sounds too appetizing and if I mess it up I might

So I finally saw the movie. On the airplane down to Texas I read the book and can honestly say they stuck to the book which is nice to see since Harry Potter didn't. The talking animals were great and they did a good job of building the characters. After I got back I was looking through all my old stuff (my parents moved to Texas from Michigan and took a lot of my stuff with them) and found the entire chronicles of narnia
So I'm reading them all over again!
