A frined just emailed me to tell me that she is successfully keeping her cats away from her Christmas tree!
She took her big matt that is usually under her puter desk and chair and turned it upside down under the tree. (With all the little poky things pointing UP!) She says her cats won`t step on it after the first try!
Amazing huh?
Have any of you done this, and how did it work for you?

Yep this is a trick I used when one of my cats kept going into one corner and spraying. They don't like the little nubbies on their paws and it keeps them off the area. Well except for Bailey who sleeps on Mike's knives out in the shop. He could care less about the pointy things.

Yes! They do make runners. I`d bet you can buy them pretty cheap at Wally`s too. (Walmarts)

Oh yes I have bought them at Walmart, I forgot about those things

But now who wants to go to walmart? I can just see my hubby now
and I'll be doing this as he backs out of the garage
I refuse to go there, it's the weekend it's holiday season
But if he goes and says he can't find it I will have to

Nope that didn't work either they just leap up into the tree, right over that stuff, I am lost here. Now I took big pieces of tin foil and stuck it on there with the fan blowing it so it makes a little noise, but pretty much anything new they are going to investagate that
I do not want to be mean or yell, I don't want them afraid, but I'm already worn out
But I want my tree

I used to use it for booby traps!
When I was a kid, my room was actually the garage that my dad had built my room in, anyways, there was a step down into my room, and I would use that as a booby trap to keep my mom from waking me up early on the weekends!
after about 2 times of stepping on it, she got the point!
