Cats teeth.

I've Seen all of the cat toothpaste and toothbrushes in stores and I was just wondering if it is really necessary to brush their teeth?

You know I've never brushed any of my cats teeth(They'd never let me) and so far so good. My oldest cat Mitzi, she's 14, her teeth look great! I feed them only dry food and give them tartar control treats. I also pick off any tartar build up off her teeth and at her age her teeth are still pearly white without any gum inflation.

If your cats would let you go ahead and brush them. If not then there's a whole line of tartar control food on the market such as Science diet's T/D. That works very well.

Thanks for The Reply! I have a 9yr old cat, and her teeth are Still In good Condition. I feed them Pounce Tartar Control sometimes And Tartar Control Food. I don't think my cats would let me brush their teeth anyway!

You can also ask the vet about some really easy wipes and gels. It's not a miracle cure, but it helps and it's alot easier than fighting with a brush.

Really? I've never heard of gels or Wipes...But I'll have to ask about Them! Thanks For The Advice Sandie

I get mine through the vet, but I know they have the wipes at petco and some of the online stores like rcsteele and dr fosters and smith. I have a few who wouldn't let me get 10 feet from them with a brush, so this works really well

They now have greenie bits for cats out. It's a green little dental treat that's been scaled down from the large dog bones they make. I give the greenies bones to my dog Natala, who btw eats poo and has awfull breath and the bones worked great for her. I wonder if the greenie bits work just as well for the kitties?
