I'm babysitting for a new family this weekend and they have the most extraordinary house I have ever been in. For those of you who are familiar with Chicago, I live, work and go to school in the Lincoln Park neighborhood and these people live near all the ritzyness that is Armitage Ave. They live in one of those gargantuan brownstones.

I just figured out how to use the TV that is hanging on their wall. THey have satellite, which I gave up on. All I wanted was animal planet and there is a winding maze of EASILY 800 channels on this TV. They've got their big sub-zero fridge and stainless steal appliances, the baby-grand in the front window and the contemporary furniture that looks like it came from a real high-end designer. ALl of the fixtures in their bathrooms are contemporary and chrome...and to top all of this off...they have genuine pieces of art that I wouldn't be surprised if they commissioned. The ceiling fan in the kitchen matches the appliances! And you should see their kids' rooms...all perfectly done up. The little girl's is a "princess" theme in purple, green and pink. THe little boy has baseball and dinosaurs in red and blue. Not that it looks like kids live here. And the master bedroom has its own FLOOR. With a roof deck. I'm not going to go up there...they said it was off limits and I wouldn't doubt these people having a nanny-cam. And if the kids want to go out, there's another deck off of the kitchen that leads out to the heated garage. In which they keep the Benz and the Land Rover. We don't have yards in the city, so even a postage stamp deck is a luxury, let alone TWO of them.

In case you're wondering, Dad is a dentist who works in the same building as my dad and Mom is a trial lawyer. Maybe my mom should have gone into law instead of finance! But these people waited until 40 to adopt 2 kids and don't have one bankrupting them with her flute "hobby"

Seriously. I'm not going to take pictures because that would invade their privacy but you should SEE this place!

Sounds like one of those homes they show on HGTV. It must be amazing to BE in one! But honestly, as beautiful as those designer homes are...I don't know that I would want to live in one. I'd be afraid to mess it up!

Movin' on up!
That's not a home, its a museum. If it it doesn't have pets and hairballs on the carpet, it isn't a HOME.

I hope there is a spirit of goodness and love there, too. You can feel it, a house will never lie.

Yeah! It's gotta have that lived in feel, otherwise is like a public show space not a real home.
Good of them to adopt two kids though!

But I certainly don't live in a house like that.
Yeah, the Armitage "shopping district" is the ritzy center to one of Chicago's ritzier neighborhoods. Lincoln Park is pretty upscael, sure, but Armitage is the center of wealth and luxury! So now, you can tell all of your friends and feel special!
