I have been trying to catch a pregnant feral for a months now, well she was pregnant when I started trying to trap her. It seems like I am not going to be able to trap her until the kittens come. My neighbors have two dogs out in there fenced in backyard and I saw her over there today trying to get some food or water I imagine. Anyways, there was a terrible fight and it looked like she was scaring the dogs (there real small dogs, just a little bigger than her) but then all the sudden one got her and tossed her up in the air and she landed on her belly. Then it looked like they did it again. I screamed at the dogs but they were in 'play' mode and won't stop, she finally was able to escape. I found her hinding outside under the car, she wasn't bleeding except from a cut on her lip it looked like, very small. I had to use binocolars to examine her cause she would just run if I get close. So I was wondering can she lose her kittens because she was tossed around twice?

Yes...she can certainly lose her kittens due to the fight. I would trap her ASAP so that she can be taken to a vet to determine if 1. she is ok and 2. whether she will still have her kittens.

I have been trying for months to trap her. She will go hungry before she gets in a trap. I believe someone had trapped her before cause she just stays away. Someone else may feed her down the road, not sure. I have also tried using a carrier with string and using my garage as a trap besides the regular trap I have gotten from the animal shelter. There is just no way to catch her. I was hoping if she had kittens and I could find them, it would be easier to catch her. If she does loose the kittens, will she go ahead and have them? Is there something I should look for?

Mark....it just isn't wise to wait...she may have internal issues that should be addressed by a vet. What type of bait are you using?? I have trapper friends who SWEARS by KFC (no bones) to trap trap wary ferals. If there is someone else feeding her..you need to talk to that person. At this point, it could be her life that is in jeapordy.

I have tried KFC, off the bone, tuna, canned cat food, milk, chicken and turkey baby food, and a few other things. She will walk up to it and stare and never go in. I am not sure if someone else is feeding her, it just seems that they must. I don't feed her unless it is food in the trap. I did give her a little food to try and get her use to eating in one spot, then I put the cage down with the food in it to try and get her use to eating in it, she never would, even if it isn't set. Thats why I think she was trapped before. I can not even get close to her without her running away. For the past 4 weeks she is getting bigger in the middle and usually ferals aren't that big so I figured she is pregnant. She looks young, around 8 months or so, maybe a little older or younger. She seems to be moving around fine and running around like I normally see her. Her nipples aren't noticale when she is laying on her side, even with my binoculars but her belly is getting bigger each week.

Cats tend to hide pain. I would try the drop trap that Hissy is recommending.
