Mica and Rocket will be staying with my boyfriendâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s mother. She owns an indoor/outdoor cat and is very responsible. The house is big enough that my cats won't have to meet hers.
Will my kittens forget me since I'm going away for a while: bawling:? My vet says that they won't and he suggests that I spray feliway in the carrier an hour before we leave.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Leave some items with your scent: dirty clothing is excellent....just make sure your bf's mother understands it's there for the cats to smell, not for her to wash!!

I used to split custody with my parents on their little girl because they spent several months abroad and she always knew them when they came back. SHe was not always friendly at first because it meant a car ride but within a day back at her other home she was fine. So don't be too upset if it take a day or so for them to settle back and enjoy your vacation.

Thank you very much everyone! I really appreciate the advice. I finally told my parents about my boyfriend after two years, and now we have to go to Dubai and Lebanon to introduce him to family.

I will really miss my babies
but they will be well looked after
I got them both the first FELV vaccine just in case even though they are not going out.

When I was a teenager, I left Ohio to live in Texas. I had two cats at the time, and intended to take the one I thought could make the plane trip. Bear was a brave boy, and I was his, so he had to go. Twinkles was extremely high strung and would often scare herself over silly things like books that were poking out of the bookcase funny. I was afraid she'd have a heart attack if I took her on a plane. I had a dream two nights before I left that Bear was suffocated on the flight, so...I refused to take him either for fear it might come true. Anyway, I came back home three months later, and they both recognized me. Of course, Bear gave me the cold shoulder for about three weeks. We figure he was P.O.ed about my leaving and not being with him. ( We were really close, and he slept stretched out beside me, his head on my pillow, my arm over his belly and under the blankies every night. lol )

Have no fear, your kitties will know you when you return.
