Hey guys,
I'm kinda concerned about Sadey. When she sleeps she'll start to twich or shake kind of like she's having a seizure. Is this normal, is she just having a nightmare? She was an extremely scared kitten when I got her, her heart would always be racing and she was so skiddish. Anyways this has been going on since I got her about a month ago.

Thanks for any input!

I can't say for sure, but it sounds just like its from dreams. Marlee twitches quite a bit while she sleeps. But if it looks like its a seizure, that sounds a bit extreme. If you have any doubts, call and ask the vet!

Oh, Milo does that too...he'll be sleeping deeply and sometimes his little feet will twitch. He also makes a little smacking noise with his mouth sometimes during these deep sleeps...like "smack smack smack smack" in rapid succession...I think he's dreaming of nursing!! hehe.

As far as I know, it's totally normal for them to twitch or move a little in their sleep...they're dreaming.

Ya I'll probaly take her in as soon as my exams are over. What I was discribing is alittle different from her normal dreams where she twitchs a bit and is obviously dreaming about eating something (very cute).

My cats do that sometimes, too. I think it is just their dreams. Mine usually twitch their little paws like they are running and their noses twitch, too, like they are sniffing something. If it's any more than this that your cat is doing, IMO I think you may want to get your cat checked out just to be safe.

My cats do that too, especialy Hobbs. He makes little chatter noise and his feet twitch . Seems to be dreaming of catching a mouse or chasing something. I think its perfectly normal

Is she an adult or kitten? I'm not sure if this is related but I know little kids tend to twitch while they're asleep more than grown adults do. They do this because they tend to sleep harder and deeper than adults do. Seizures are pretty deffinate things, usually it's active enough to really worry you. Check for urination or defication during these 'episodes' cats that seizure tend to do one or both.

seth-chan does the same.. and if you watch humans, we do the same
my husband twitches and jumps all the time. i've read that the reason humans jump in their sleep is due to the sudden drop in blood pressure due to relaxation. might be similar for cats.
