Congrats on the baby and hope more healthy ones come.
I would think that if you handle the baby/s too much, Mom may get stressed and will move them to hide them from you.I wouldn't let the kids hold them until they are older either.I know kids mean well and are curious, but one wrong slip and the kitten could fall and it could be fatal.
Congrats again!!!

I've handled kittens from the moment they were born without any problems from kits or mom. One rex mother HATED to cut the cords, so I did if for her, wiped the kitten off a little and she took care of the rest.

IMO if you handle them (pet a little and gently pick up to examine) every day; by the time their eyes are open they will not be afraid of people. Sense of smell is important before eyes open so the kits learn who you are.

Its funny to see a few day old kits "hissing" like they would scare anyone

As long as mom doesn't get too upset, its fine. Mine were caged so mom didn't move them or hide them.

As far as other's handling them, I didn't allow it till the kits were about 3 weeks old with eyes fully open. Mom didn't mind then as long as you really didn't take them out of her sight.

Ohhhhhh how EXCITING!!!!!!!
i LOVE newborn kittens.
I would`nt let the kids handle them yet either...but I WOULD... !!! (maybe should`nt...but WOULD....could NOT help myself!)
Be sure to pet Momma cat a lot too , and tell her how beautiful she is and how precious those babies are.
If you handle them, try to do so very carefully so that they don`t cry out. When they cry that`s what stresses the Mom and will make her want to move them.
I hope you find wonderful homes for all of them!

Congrats. Remember....keep momma inside only until she can be safely spayed.

Sorry about the one little one. But if it was the last and it died, then its a harder and longer wait as there is nothing to push behind it. Sounds like mom and the 2 kittens are doing fine so far.

What colors are they and what color is mom/dad?

I can barely see the picture but the kit looks cute even on this screen. I love polys - I had a Queen who had a litter of polys once - she herself was a poly and each kitten took after her - I think it is a dominant trait anyway. They are always so cute, all paws as they learn to walk and navigate that big wide world!
