Hello everyone,

I have a 7 or 8 year old cat, she is my baby. I recently moved out of my parents house, and into an apartment and now share a bedroom. At my parents house I would sleep with the door cracked so she could come and go as she pleased, and since I've moved the bedroom door is shut since we have another roommate. We have been here for a little over a month, and she comes to the door during the night and kicks it very loudly with her back claws trying to get it. I would let her in, but my other roommate has a kitten that is just in love with Baby and follows her everywhere.. We tried letting her come into th bedroom but the kitten follows and just makes all kinds of noise and the two of them wrestle and keep us up. I don't know what to do! My roommate suggested getting some kind of spray for the door.. would that be of any help?

Thank you for your suggestions

Could you leave them both out of your room at night?

I assume they are both out of hte bedroom? Kittens can usually eventually be trained to be quiet at night and to sleep when their owners do, but it takes time. You may have to wait till the little one is old enough to sleep through the night. And then suffer some loss of sleep till she gets used to being with you.

They are both out of the bedroom.. the problem is breaking the habit of the older cat to not come into the bedroom at night.. she wants in because she is used to sleeping with me at my parents house and now kicks the bedroom door at the apartment in an attempt to get in and it keeps us up all night long.. I need to find a way to stop this.. lol

There is a similar thread recently and someone suggested that you keep your vacuume just outside the bedroom and snake the power cord into your room and leave it unplugged next to an outlet. when the cat starts up plug it in for a sec to surprise the cat away and then unplug it. eventually they will realize that the scary noise only happens when they scratch at the door.
