Hi...im new here, this is my first post.

I have a few problems with my cat, I've taken her to the vet numerous times and they don't know whats wrong with her and why she's doing the things she's doing.

Anyways, she scratches herself raw under her chin on her neck, around her shoulder area, and seems to be biting herself on the stomach...under her chin is raw, it bleeds and is oozing alot. The vet has ruled out everything except alergies..I've never had a cat do this before though, and I just don't understand how alergies could cause such a thing.

Also, she goes around my house and licks the door hinges and other metal objects...I've never seen a cat do this before either. Is this normal?

If anyone can help answer my questions, it would be much appreciated...thanks!

[edit]: sorry if I posted this in the wrong place :/

I would take this cat to a specialist that deals with allergies. Often these types of reactions by cat is a reaction to the food the cat is giving, or something within the house that the cat is allergic to.

Your cat also sounds like it might be anemic- have you flea treated you recently with an over an counter product perhaps or given her a flea bath? If you have, then take the product with you to the vet and let them know that you have done this and used the product and they can take it from there. But licking metal objects can be a symptom of anemia and it is very important your vet run a CBC to find out if this is the case for your cat.

Thanks for your replies...

I believe the cat is around 6-8 months old...

My mom works at a vet and has taken her in a few times and has given her a flea treatment...I think its called Revolution? Not too sure...she eats regular dry food (Deli Cat)...she seems to be very active. It just keeps getting worse though. So her licking the door hinges and such could be a sign of Anemia?

Dont take this wrong.. I am not yelling or jumping you..

Deli cat is one of the worst foods out there... two you have a kitten and kitten food would be best... Do you have a pet store or Petco ??

Hinges have iron , though I have no experience with anemia in animals other than human

Well that couldn't be helping much. Deli cat is an awful brand of food to be feeding. It is like you eating McDonalds everyday. This sounds like allergy problems to be but you really really should feed a good quality food. One you get from PetSmart, not the grocery store. Nutro is good and it is not hard to find. Your mom should know better if she works at a vet office.

MA, you're amazing. When Lola's symptoms started to take a turn for teh worse, she began to lick my radiators. Since we were going in to the vet regularly and she already had a whole host of problems, I never brought it up. But she WAS severly anemic at the result of an early test.

Of course, it turns out that she was developing a mast cell tumor (I think that's what it was called, I'd have to get out the paperwork from her necropsy) in her chest with all of these other symptoms and the FeLV, which is why it went south so quickly, but now I know that if any more cats lick my radiators to get them in for a blood panel, stat!
