Good question.

I think maybe it's pudding made from figs.

I was just thinking that myself when someone posted a thread about "sticky-poo". I'm going to google the answer.

I found some recipes for it. It just doesn't sound good to me at all.

There is figs in it. It also contains suet, which is hard fat from around the kidneys and loins. Here's the first recipe I found. http://www.cooksrecipes.com/dessert/...ce-recipe.html

Maybe....but I highly doubt it!!

Isn't that recipe just your basic Christmas Plum Pudding Recipe by another name? And yes, years ago suet was used a lot in place of our current shortning today.

Sounds quite good to me! Especially with a Rum Sauce!

two hundred years ago a 'fig' meant any dried fruit. So yes, it is just a Christmas pudding!

You never know for sure. The puddings you get from the store are made from animal by-products too.

When you think about what things are made from they suddenly seem far less appetizing

depends on what brand of pudding. some brands have clumping agents that are vegetarian. jello and marshmallows have by-products in them for sure though. i always read labels because i'm a vegetarian of 13 years

I think I'll take a pass on the figgy pudding...

its actually delicious!!

I've never liked Christmas pudding, figs or no, because it's far too rich for me to handle. I always make a sherry trifle (and this year I think it's going to go down really well )
