Vaccinations

Well STormy got the last set of vaccinations today. This was the third set of shots which included the rabies shot. My question was......how important is it for her to get yearly shots considering she is an indoor cat?
It was horrible this time. Every time she has hissed at the vet, no biggy but this time she hisses and faught me HARD to get away. They gave her one shot in the right front shoulder and one in the back right hip. The front one wsa not too bad but the back one they had to try twice before they gave it to her. It took a very very long time to calm her down and I just wondered how important the yearly ones are with her being indoors??

Obviously I want to the best thing for my cat but I do know sometimes some things are just not "necessary". Thanks

Depending on where you live, you cannot go without a rabies shot, but there is one that you can get that lasts 3 years. I'd also go with the FVRCP, even if she is indoors, but that can also be given once every 3 years.

Ok today she got the rabies and on the paper is says 1 year and is marked by that and then the next is a 3 year so Im assuming thats the rabies shot she got. Then she had the FVRCP today as well. But they said when I left...see you next year??? So Im assuming there is something else she would get at one year. I was going to call and ask but I figured Id ask here first. This FVRCP was the third one of it. Thats the same thing they have given her each time. This time she just got the rabies included. So is that what they get each year?? And she got whatever for the Leukemia the first time I think.
I just dont want her to go through this each year if there is not a need for it. And I guess Ill have to call and see if she got the dose that lasts 3 year or 1. Im assuming one since they said see you next year.lol

the first series of kitten shots are only good for a yr ... then the new protocal is every three years after the booter to the kitten shots

Zoey just got her boosters yesturday... I had a long talk with the vet ... and she said since Zoey was fully done last yr kitten series and had her booster this yr she doesnt need them for three yrs..

Oh Ok.........that kinda makes sense.lol I will be calling and asking. Thanks!!

My cat is an indoor cat and we live in a rabies-free country. My cat is very well behaved at the vet, even though she is very frightened and I just hate making her so uncomfortable, but I get her shots done every year and will continue to get them every year because...well...you never know. I get so worried about what could happen--my cat may run away and might encounter an animal that has rabies (for whatever reason, etc). I figure keeping her rabies shots current is better than risking it.
