I've been thinking that I'd like to ask for a subscription to a cat magazine as a Christmas present. But I'm not sure what one I want. So I thought I should ask for everyone's oppinions on them on here! What cat magazines do you subscribe to if any? What do you like or dislike about that one? Thanks everyone!

I only know of cat fancy, and I've picked it up and read it once, and I wanted a subscription too, so my referral would be that one.

I've been wishing for a cat magazine, too, but the ones I see in the stores are all caught up in purebred show cats. I don't give a hoot about pedigrees and perfection... I just want to learn more about ALL cats, and I love to look at pictures. Any recommendations?

I really haven't found a good cat magazine. I used to buy cat fancy. But it mainly adds. Not much reading material in it at all. And often poor cat advice. I was just reading Cat fancy today in the vets and they suggested spraying a cat with water as a way to train!

Catnip, the one Hissy suggested is the journal/newsletter from Tufts Veterinary. I've read it in the vet's office and I liked it. Cat Fancy is good if you just want to look at pictures, but there's not much reading in there and what is is mainly geared at purebreds and shows and breeding or is really simple advice that we already know about here at TCS!

Hi,
Does anyone fancy swaping US cat magazines for UK ones? I usually get one a month.

I have subscribed to Cat Fancy for years. I love the pictures and adore it's cartoon, Sadie.
I named my little girl Sadie, after that cartoon.
I usually save a years worth of issues, then donate them to our local library gift shop.
There is usually a waiting list for the magazines.

I have thought about subscribing to a cat magazine, but I have found most of what I needed to know via the internet... especially TCS. That's just my opinion.

Cat fancy was good, but I don't think there is much "meat" to the articles. I do enjoy the long articles on the spotlighted breed- usually new info for me. I used to subscribe to I love cats- it's more light hearted and human interest, but very thin- although not if you compare it to Cat fancy w/out ads!I'm a quick reader so I can read an issue of cat fancy in 1/2 hour. I've never read cats or catnip- personally I'm starting to think that this site is much more interesting!

That is exactly why I joined TCS!
