How soon before the birth do the nipples get bigger and red?

Usually at about three weeks or so into the pregnancy you might notice the nipples "pinking up" - since the gestation period is a little over two months, that would be about 5 or so weeks to go before anticipated delivery.

My foster cat, who I was told was pregnant, her nipples are big, but not red. She is supposed to be due around this next weekend, should I feel milk in the glands?

They wont be red they will just be pink. You can feel milk anytime from about 10 days till she's due to only minutes before she's due. It depends on the individual cat.

I really don't think she is pregnant. I am going to take her in to the vet in a little while.
