Hi there,
I have three kiddies, who all are in love with the tree. We have no tinsel or glass ornaments that could hurt them, it's just they keep jumping at the branches and I think they might knock the tree over. I've heard that lemon juice on the branches will keep them from eating them, but it's not working. ANY HINTS???

Odd my cat was in awe of the tree for about a few hours looking at it and hiding under it and now she doesn't really care anymore, she's totally lost interest well at least in the tree it self now she drinks the water from the tree!! she has fresh clean water but aparently likes her water with pine in it

Not trying to be stupid here, but what is it that causes the tinsel to be dangerous for the cats? Is it that they can get themselves tied up in it or is it only if they decide to eat it? I put our tree up today(LATE)and they don't seem to care a bit about it. I hope THAT keeps up.

They eat it and then it tangles in the digestive system causing an emergency visit to the vet.

I have always heard that the water the tree sits in is very poisionous to a cat... Because of the pine and water..

The water is especially poisonous if the tree has been treated with preservative to stop the needles falling.

my new little kitten is the same way... always obsessed with the little ball oranments on the tree and my tree is only 3 foot tall and yet he loves to "climb" it.. haha, well.. i did see the kitten eat a broken ball. i was freaked out, i am always sweeping the floors to make sure theres no broken balls around. its crazy. my two other 3 year old cats dont care for the tree at all and i never had a tree up when they were babies. *shrugs*

Ling Ling learned really fast that indoor pine trees will squirt water if you get too close or bother anything

We bought the tree in and left it undecorated for a week - took 3 times of getting hit with water to leave it alone. She is supervised and not allowed out of the room at nite with no one to watch her.

We decorated Saturday. She's gotten squirtted twice now playing with the decorations. She's very smart - may take another time or two, but I think she knows you don't mess with the tree.
