As many of you know I live with a 17 yr old with CRF ... She needs to go to the vet for testing and a general check up.... My problem is my mother ( her owner) says she no longer needs to see a vet ... Since it is my busy season I have the money to take her .. In the last 6 weeks I have spent 450 bucks on my two .. Should I just take her and hope Mom pays me back at some pt .. I pay for Kandies food , supplements , litter ,etc...all I ask Mom to do is pay the vet bills( or at least half) am I being mean or unrealistic??

It's hard to answer, not being fully knowledgeable about your situation... so all I can say is that, although my parents and I live separately, we consider all our kitties to be equally "ours." We share the various responsibilities without even bothering to keep track...

I hate to say it, but I don't think you'll have any peace of mind till you take her. All you can hope is that your mother will pay you back. I don't know how many times my mother or I have taken one of my sister's pets to the vets, and footed the bill, because she couldn't afford it. Neither one of us has ever been reimbursed, either, but the pets needed the medical care.

Sharky, if you feel the need to take her in to be seen, then do so but do it with no expectation of being paid back. If your Mom has no intention of having her in then she may also not be willing to pay for a visit now.

I'm glad to hear Zoey's went well, best wish's for Kandie's to go well too.

Our apt. gave us hope...I was afraid it was time, but it seems there is more I can do, and given how perky and personable as always, Patrick was, the vet agrees, it truly is not yet time. So we wait for some test results and I have a huge stash of a/d
