I did a search, but came up short so i decided to post. Last night Prue got into my computer room where the birds are. She always gets on there cage no matter what i do. ( cant move them do to allergies, need to find them a new home, there parakeets). The birds are about 3 ft off the gound, just near my exercise machine. What i *think* happend, was she got on the cage, and fell off, somehow catching her paw or hittin it on the way down. Shis is kinda favoring it,its the right front. its sure dosent stop her from causing holy terror, or getting around, she jsut kinda favors it. I picked her up and jsut felt it, and she was fine with that, but did get nippy when my "exam" took to long, like more then 5 seconds, lol. She is nippy normally, being only around 10-12 weeks old i think. Is there anything i should do for her? it is in now way slowig her down, and she is putting weight on it, especially with her jumping around. i jsut wish there was something i could give her to keep her a bit more calm so she would stay off it awhile. Thanks for any replies!!

Do any toes look out of position? Do her claws extend and retract normally? Does her whole leg feel like everything's where it should be?

I hope it's just a sprained toe!

toes look fine, cant get her to extend them, lol. the leg looks and feels fine, she wont touch me till i start putting it thought its natural motion. she seems to use it fine, and gets around without trouble. i got her to finally lay down and sleep. jsut everyone once in a while i'll catch her holding it up, but then in the same second, watch her tear across the room as if nothing is wrong, lol.

Kittens have a tendancy to beak their legs, which is something I never knew lol. My kitten recently broke his leg from falling off something, similar to your kitty. Where does it seem like she has pain at? In her paw, the first bone connected to her paw, or the thigh bone (I don't know any of the correct names for these)? My kitty broke his thigh bone but I think when he fell off our TV he landed on something else which snapped his bone. As soon as he broke it he tried to hide and he refused to walk on it. It sounds like your kitty just has a sprain since she's still running around like a mad woman :-D I would say to keep an eye on it and if it doesn't improve in a few days take her in, most likely they'll do xrays which usually run about $150. She may have fractured something too which may require a bandage. If you do decide to wrap it yourself you have to be really careful to wrap it tight, but not to tight because it can cut of circulation and the toes will swell. If you're interested in wrapping it you can send me a pm and I can send you pictures of how they wrapped my babies leg, although nothing can beat a proffesional opinion (gotta add that part). You may want to confine her to a smaller room in the house so that she doesn't move around as much, preferably some place she can't jump.
