Just joined today. This looks like a great forum for advice (and for cat lovers!). Stumbled across it looking for advice on how to introduce a soon to be adopted dog to my 4 cats. (Not something I'm looking forward to).
I've got 4 females fur balls -
**a short hair calico (Snickers), 14 months. She's a little skiddish but has the cutest "curious" face and loves DVD players (putting the dvd tray out and in drives her nuts!!)
**little tiny brown tabby with the biggest eyeballs (Peanut), 14 months. runt of the litter and only 1.2 lbs when we got her. Her eyes were bigger than her body...haha
**a 12 year old b*tchy old lady (Zoey) - and I say that in the nicest way. Nobody messes with the queen of the house (not even me).
**a 7 month old sealpoint (Pebbles) - she's absolutely the sweetest thing, but my devil at the same time. She gets into the most trouble. Her dad must have been full bred ragdoll because her markings are identical to one (and she hangs like one too), but her mom was a gray tabby.
Anyways - that's my clan and my daughters and I love them all to death. They are spoiled rotten (as it should be!).
They've helped my daughters (14 and 11) become responsible little "moms". Zoey and Pebbles are family cats, but when we got snickers and peanut - they each got a "mom" and boy do they know who their mommy's are. My daughters love the special attention they get from their own babies that nobody else in the house can get. Peanut can only be craddled on her back by her mommy and will fall asleep that way and Snickers will only go to bed when mom does. It's taught them alot.
As for all the other quirks - like the DVD player fettish, or the tabby who brings me clean laundry (jeans, sweaters, etc from the cellar - bigger than her), to the little ragdoll devil who can fit into the tiniest of spaces where she shouldn't be and loves to torment the old lady - then makes a run for it - these are what make our homes interesting and fun - right??
(And no - I"m not some crazy cat lady who use to live next door - but I am entertained by these little things every day and I love it!)
