Kitty hormone pill ?

A friend of mine was laughing at my foster cat in heat and she said she heard of a pill of sorts that you can give to females to control the hormones until they get spayed. Not necessarily a birth control pill but a "heat control pill". Anyone ever hear of this ?

This female is being fostered here until after the holidays and she'll be spayed by the adoptive family once she gets one - just wondering if there's a quick fix in the meantime ?

Can't you tell whoever you are fostering for that she is going into heat and you can't wait until she is adopted before getting spayed???? Safer that way - don't want her to get out by accident and bring home a new family ...

Yes, they definitely need to change that policy! All our fosters are neutered young, except nursing Moms. Whether she gets adopted or not, she needs to be spayed!

I've heard of a feline "birth control" pill, but I believe it's only used in Europe. It's used by breeders.
