I am currently researching the effects of personality traits on views of Hurricane Katrina. My research will be based on responses to questionnaires. Anyone interested in completing a short questionnaire, please email me at [email protected] or PM me.

Thank you in advance,
Tamara

Tamara,

For those of us who like to help out researchers, but who will not give our e-mail addresses to strangers, could you tell us a bit more about this research? Who are you doing the research for? What is the purpose of the research? What will the research be used for? etc. The more you can tell us(without confounding the results) the better.

Good questions lotsocats.

I am doing the research for an undergraduate level research methods class. The purpose is to find out how personality traits affect how people viewed the Hurricane Katrina tragedy. At the end of the class, the questionnaires will be destroyed. The questionnaire is only 25 questions and if anyone is not comfortable giving me their email address, I can send the survey in two private messages (it is too big to fit in one).

Thank you for considering my questionnaire,

Tamara,

Thanks for the response. Good luck getting enough people to participate! Make sure that you mention in your discussion of the results of the study that your findings may not reflect the personality patterns of the general population since you did your survey on a forum full of crazy cat lovers!

LOL Renae! I know my one friend Ed is still there, still rescuing cats and dogs and other pets. Some people think he is crazy for being there, but I think he is a true hero.

Tamara if you can PM me your questionare, I will be happy to participate-

Is this for American responses only? If not, you can pm it to me if you like.
However, I also am curious as to why you are posting this on a cat forum?
You won't get an accurate sampling of the population this way..

As a researcher, I have to say this is not the best way - actually it's no way at all - to do a sample. What kind of sample are you planning? Random? Stratified? Etc. etc??? What is your hypothesis? What is the purpose of the questionnaire and what will the study prove or examine?

In no way will simply asking a group without first sampling the subjects from a select area give you reliable replies for your study. Even an undergrad prof would not approve this. Are you seeking to know how it affected ppl in La? Ppl who worked there? Americans in general? North Americans? You would need accurate population lists to do a proper sample. I mean - I do not mind participating in online questionnaires for fun but if this is academic study - as someone who teaches at a university - and insists upon quality work from my own Pediatric Residents - I would suggest you ask your prof for more assistance in designing a sample.

I do wish you luck!
