ear piercings?? they say its bad??

i have been pondering to get my ears repierced so i have four holes in each ear, people are now telling me stories that:

if i get another done in i will get fat,
If i get another one i will get really sick in my blood
if i get another one done i will get pregnant..

I am going to exclude the last one, but is it true about the other two theories??
Will someone let me know!

Those things are not true. Everyone knows that you will grow enough new ears to accomodate all the piercings. (just kidding) LOL

They are full of BS - You may get an infection if the piercing is not done properly, but thats about it!!

I have 5 in each ear and no problems here!

I am a trained professional piercer, and that stuff is a bunch of baloney. As you go farther up the ear, it turns from soft tissue with a rich blood supply to cartilage, with a much lesser blood supply. If you are going to have problems with scarring or infection that is where it is more likely to happen. What they are talking about being "sick in your blood" is probably septicemia. It can happen if sterile equipment is not used, but it is extremely rare. You can get the same thing from an infected hangnail, way more often that from a piercing. You are smart enough to find someone that will do it safely. If you want them, get them. Happy Piercing!

Well that gave me a good laugh for the day, especially the last one!

Like posted before, if you get it done by a professional piercer, you shouldn't have any problems! I have 6 piercings, 1 tattoo and a belly button ring and I've never had any probelms with anything! (No pregnancies either! )

Those are myths, and I've never heard any of those. The only risk is an infection if the piercing isn't done properly or kept clean - follow the cleaning instructions carefully.

One thing that can happen is if you toss around a lot at night & don't take your earrings out before you go to bed (which can be a bit of a pain if you have a lot of earring holes) is that over time the earrings can get pulled on as you sleep, causing the holes to 'migrate' down your earlobe, leaving a scar.

well i have a bellybutton ring also lol and ive had my nose done too and THAT was done with a gun! (piercing gun of course)

I heard something like it makes you fat and that you get ETP,

I mean seriously, i have 3 in each ear, and my belly ring, i was considering getting my nose redone but i dont think it suits me anymore hehe

Hey, don't worry! Now we all know those things aren't true, but I can see why, if you are about to get your ears pierced, you may have some doubts and be nervous. But none of those things will happen...okay? Go ahead and get them pierced if that is what you want.

the fat thing- i have seen plenty of thin people with multiple piercings
blood infection- not likely unless they use a dirty needle
pregnant- yeah because the ear has everything to do with reproduction not so much.

I know, i pissed my self about the pregnancy one, but i meant apparently its alot easier to get pregnant if you pierce a certain spot of your ears??

Good Lord. I guess we'll tell all of our fertility patients just to go and have their ears pierced!!

Fran, all of those are total... uhm..... rubbish I think is the best I can come up with as a substitute for an expletive. Who on earth said you'd get fat from having your ears pierced again? Someone so skinny that the weight of her earrings actually makes a difference on the scales? You'll only get an infection if your piercings aren't cleaned regularly, but a saline solution will be given to you when you have them done specifically for that.

And as for the last one.... well we all know that you can only get pregnant from kissing and sitting on toilet seats, don't we?
