I just went away for about 11 days. I had a friend stay at my house and take care of Mitts. Mitts knows and likes this friend.

When I got home (no hubby, he's still away) Mitts just followed me around purring for about a half hour.

Then I REALLY needed to sit and relax (had been travelling for over 16 hours straight, tired and felt like crap) What does Mitts do? He started attacking my arms. scratching, biting, rabbit kicking. I had to leave the room.
And I'd missed him so much.

Was he just over excited at my return? Or is he mad at me?

I think he was excited over your return. All of my gets get needy when we return, but Sturgis won't let us out of his site for a couple of weeks afterward.

When I, or Jim and I together, have been away from home for as long as just one day, Samwise and Molly display their displeasure by being very naughty as soon as I return home. For the first couple of hours after my return they go out of their way to go through their collection of favorite bad things, including jumping up on shelves and furniture and knocking my "knick-knacks" off onto the floor. After a couple of hours all is forgiven and they rub up against my leg begging for a good grooming. We have never boarded them, and they have been in their home the whole time.

Miss Kitty does not display this behavior, perhaps because as a "rescue" she appreciates her nice home.

Oddly enough, Samwise and Molly do not do this when Jim has been away, and he loves them and cares for them just as much as I do. Indeed, he spoils them more than I do.

Perhaps this is a "mom thing?"

They all have their own ways.

The more skittish guys don't do anything until one of the braver kitties sends the all-clear. Then they emerge from their hiding places and greet me.

Soem try to be mad at me but they can't help themselves, they just have to throw themselves at Mom and get cuddles and give kisses.

And one just has to pretend to greet me only to tell me what he *really* thinks by biting my nose when I try to cuddle him.

I just left my 2 little monsters alone for the first 2 day stretch, they were ticked when I got home following me around like shadows, when I went to get my bags from the car they both started wailing at the door and were still wailing when I got back (19 floor elevator ride later). I sit down and both of them are on me like glue... and that is almost 40 lbs of cat. Duke is 25lbs, Sibohan is 13lbs.
Sibohan was being a pain last night (my first night back) meowing in the middle of the night for no apparent reason. I think it was to make sure I was still there.
It goes to show us all that we are loved, middes and depended on.

There's no place like home
I just got home a few hours ago from a 6 day trip. One or another hasn't left my lap in that time and most are hanging in the room with me. They have almost reached the stage where they will all fall asleep hard and get the best night's sleep in 6 days.

Haha! Since the "attack" last night, Mitts has not left my side or my lap if he can help it! I have had to pry him off my lap to go to the bathroom!!

I may have to go on a trip and my guess is Gigi will go with me and possible Zoey.. Kandie will be with her mom(my mom) and I would have a sitter come in to check on her

I dont go anywhere except to visit my parents 300 miles away and i take them with me. I am not a vacation person, I tend to like to stay home. I even refuse to get a passport in case I have to travel overseas for work in the future I can simply say I cannot go, no passport.

Baby will give me the cold shoulder for a few hours. I haven't gone anywhere for a long period of time since Daisy, Julie, Louie, and Lucy came along. Little One and Buddy act as if everything's normal and don't act any different.

Seamus ignored me, he sat with his back to me, struggled to get away if I picked him up. Then when I went to bed, he started knocking all my pictures off the shelves. I brought him upstairs and shut him in with me. Sometime during the night he decided to forgive me and snuggled up. I've never left him more then 1 night since. And that time, Chris and I felt so guilty for being away, we got up at 4AM and drove home.

He and Gator are coming with us on vacation to FL next month.

Vacation? I can hardly get out of the house to go for groceries! As soon as I pick up my purse, Clyde hops onto the halfwall by the stairs and trains those wide sea-green eyes on me with the most mournful wail... and Pearl races ahead of me to fling herself dramatically across a stair tread!

When I carefully step over her, she scampers down to the door, waits for me, and then STANDS ON MY FEET and meows up at me. By this time, Clyde has arrived on the stairs, but he makes not a sound -- he knows I'm going no matter what, so he just gazes at me in silent reproach. Oh, the GUILT they can inflict! :-)

When I get back, Pearl is all over me, purring and sniffing and rubbing... and that goes on for a good ten minutes, even if I've only been gone an hour. Clyde is more dignified -- he stands halfway up the stairs and stretches out toward me until I get close enough to let him nosekiss me. How I love these little welcome-home kisses!
