Hello,
I would like some advice on caring for one of our wonderful cats. She is the oldest, about 15, and she is forgetting about the litter box. Her health has declined some but she still eats OK and gets around the house. I thought about a small diaper. What do you folks think? Thanks.

I wonder about adding a few more litter boxes...or trying to confine her to a smaller space so that she can find the litter more easily. Is there a posibility that she may have some joint pain and just does`nt want to walk so far to the litter...or do you really think she is just "forgetting"?

I would worry about skin breakdown with a diaper. Also, I'm sure it would be very difficult to keep it on her.

Maybe you can add low litterboxes around the house, so there is always one nearby. Or limit her area to a few rooms, so she never is too far from the litterbox. And check the stickys at the top of the behavior thread, it may have some suggestions that will work for your kitty.

This is assuming she has had a vet check, to ensure this behavior change isn't due to a health problem.
