I was watching Lily tonight after supper. She woke up from a nap. She did her after nap ritual of scratching on her scratching post. Mid scratch, she fell asleep! Her claws were stuck into the scratcher enough that I could grab her before she tumbled over. I thought it was weird, but ignored it. After all, she is a kitten. Who knows what she did all day. She could be really tired. She just did it again. She was running around beating up my pant legs. She hopped up on a table(despite the fact that she isn't supposed to be jumping) & then up on the stereo on the table. She had one paw up on the windowsill & was going to climb up there when she fell asleep! She just drooped down onto the stereo. She sort of just layed there limp. I checked her, still breathing normally, woke up when I called to her softly, eyes look normal.

Is this normal? Has your cat ever done this? I plan on watching her tomorrow(canceled a shopping date-the things I will give up for my babies
). Am I being an overly protective mommy? We have a vet appt. on Wed. at 10:30 am for Lily's vacc. & Twitch's shot. I am going to be sure to ask the vet about this. I think the vet usually requests to do bloodwork after the booster shot for distemper(or is it rabies?). Anyway, she will want to do bloodwork at the same time she gives ths shot on Wed.

LOL Kitties do this. They overdo and then they just zonk out. If she stops eating or using the litter pan or drinking or doesn't wake up at all, then I would worry. But really, they just do this sometimes. Mine usually fall asleep in the litter pan

Thanks for the reply hissy. I didn't think I could go to sleep without an answer, so I have stayed up waiting. It makes me feel better to know it is a kitten thing. She has been eating & drinking good. She was in the litter pan in here a short while ago. Trust me, I can smell it!
My little stinker!

That is SO funny! The reason I ended up with Sashka is because when I saw her for the first time she was asleep sitting up!

She used to belt madly around the house and then there'd be silence and I'd go to find her and she'd be asleep mid-something - scratching, licking, sniffing, running - she did it ALL the time! It's one of the things I really miss about her kittenhood, this narcoleptic tendency of hers!!

The cats house, we just pay the mortgage..
Sleeves used to fall asleep like this too. He'd be chewing my finger and fall asleep with it in his mouth. I used to think he was joking or something, how could it be possible to fall asleep like that..seriously?? But once I realised he'd just worn himself out Id crack up laughing as its just sooo cute.
We are getting an 8 week old kitten next week and I can't wait to go through all these beautiful little things again

Oh the precious things that kittens do
Heres a picture of Sophie as a kitten. She was busy washing herself one minute while i went to brush my teeth and within minutes of coming back into the room this is how she fell asleep, bless her

The first time I met Tedy, (who is ours now) was at my friends house. He was about6-8 weeks old, climbed up onto my shoulder and started to purr and nibble my ear...I swear less than 3 seconds later my friend yelled to "GRAB HIM!"...he`s fallen to sleep mid-nibble and was about to fall off of me.

I am very happy to know other kittens do the same thing. I was really starting to worry that something was wrong with her. I was sure she ran into something hard enough to scramble her brains or something. Aren't kittens wonderful?
