So, my pregnant kitty Mumbles has gotten noticeably bigger in the last 2 days or so and right now she keeps kind of crouching low to the ground and walking in place with her back legs. She's also been very vocal lately and affectionate and she is due any time.... Could the babies be coming?

Ummmm ... that almost sounds like she is assuming a lordotic position as if she were in estrus. This may seem a stupid question, but ... are you 100% completely certain she ~is~ pregnant?

well we didn't have an ultrasound but the feline vet at my school said she's 99% sure and she has been getting bigger plus she's displaying all the signs. Also, my boyfriend can feel the babies moving sometimes (she lets him touch her belly - cute!)

She's also rolling onto her back now

Melsa...I do hope you are keeping her strictly indoors.

I am an advocate for indoor cats, no worries there. I took her in as a foster and she fit in so well that we decided to keep her

I am starting to really doubt that she is pregnant. For a couple days it seemed like she had gotten much bigger but now she seems smaller. She didn't have kittens somewhere without me knowing because I have checked everywhere. I took her home on November 6 and we were told she was pregnant then. 2 weeks ago I got her looked at by the feline vet at my school and she said she's 99% sure she's pregnant. However, we don't have an ultrasound machine at my school so there's really no way to tell for sure. This is driving me crazy! I might call my vet and ask how much it would cost to have an ultrasound done just to be sure...

Our rescue group has had cats that we swore were pregnant (even the vet thought they were pregnant) and it turned out they weren't.

My cat showed signs of heat about 3 weeks ago. I'm assuming it's because our male tried to mate with her. She usually kicks his butt and makes it known she wants nothing to do with him. She IS pregnant though. The babies have gotten huge. But I have no idea when she's due.

Probably would be a good idea to get your male fixed if he isn't neutered yet. Cats are induced ovulators and if she has her kittens and isn't spayed...she will become pregnant again. That is the reason we also recommend keeping your female indoors until she has weaned the kittens and has been spayed. If you need a low cost clinic for either your male or female..let me know. If you live in the USA, you can go here:

and click on your state.

the tummy does get big in false pregnancy. Can you clearlt see the babies moving in her tummy? That's the only way you can be sure she's really prego unless you get an ultrasound or x ray.

Usually they are about 7 weeks along when you can feel the babies moving. They are about 5 weeks along when the tummy starts to get noticiably larger.

Yeah I know. The babies are huge now though. I can feel what I think are 3 or 4 heads. I'm not too sure if it's the babies I feel moving or her breathing. I noticed her tummy getting bigger the first week of November but she's also a really skinny cat.

But what about the other signs? Any milk being produced?

You can tell if they are babies, it's unmistakeable.
You should see them moving. If she was getting big the first week of november that would mean she was 5 weeks then...and now its nearing the first week of Jan. That does not add up. Cats are only prego for 9 weeks total. (about 64 days). That would put her at 13 weeks....im sorry but it's not adding up.
Maybe your cat has worms. If she's really skinny it sounds like she does. And the behavior you were describing earlier sounded like she was in heat.
