hello, i have a male flame pt that i am using as one of my studs, could anyone tell me what color female i would need in order to produce flame pt kittens other then a white female? i have used him with my white girl and have gotten a few but they have all been male kittens, i'd like to try him with another girl with the hopes of getting some female flame pts.
thanks

Using a white will not get you what you want unless you know what color the white carries. White is dominate and will mask the colors.

If you want flame point females (I'm assuming you are talking about himalayan cats); you need to have a female that is either a flame point, carrying flame point or is a tortie point (or carrying tortie).

If your females are carrying "black/seal" then you will get tortie point females. Remember females have XX (where the color is carried) and so gets color from both the mother and the father.

You need to get a book on basic genetics if you are trying to figure out colors.

I had one on genetics. Its something like "Cat Breeding" - check on Amazon.com and put in the search as "cat breeding" or "cat genetics" and see what you get. I think the author was Moore.

You can also find basic genetics on the web if you do a search. Some breeders will put in genetics on their pages.

If you breed a red point to a red point, you will get all red points. If you breed a red point female to any color male, the male kittens will always be red points. Hope this helps.
