Is it a fashion no-no to get a dress in another color and wear both - just because you like to styling so much on the first one? I purchased a new dress a few weeks ago - I love it! It is in a rose color (tonal solid color) and I was thinking about another color. But with just getting "into" fashion - didn't know if this was a no-no or not.

For shoes I didn't care - I now have 4 pairs of the same boots in different colors.

Coming from a non-fashion person
I think it would be OK as long as you don't wear the dresses so close together that people notice that it's the same dress in a different color.

No way. I think if you find something you love, has a good fit, and makes you feel good, that you should get it in every color!

I don't think theres any rules against it. Bottom line, if you like it, buy it and wear it. Enjoy!

No way! I do that a lot! (all being well that it's from an actual shop, not a charity shop!
)

If you like it, then go for it! I also don't worry about wearing them close together - if I feel happy and comfortable in it then i'll wear it - nobody noticed as far as I can tell!!

Well, this is no fashion authority, but all the fashion in the world can't replace feeling good in your clothes. When I find a garment that works for me that well, I get it in as many colours as I can. Puts variety in the wardrobe without the guesswork. And often all it takes to make something look quite different is to accessorize differently. I say GO FOR IT!

Fashion, schmashion! Outside of weddings and funerals, it shouldn't matter a whit what you wear, as long as it's decent and you feel good in it. 'Way too much time, money, and emotional distress are wasted on the idea that we should allow others to judge us by our clothes.

And now, having said that, let me admit that I really enjoy pretty clothes, too. I also make beaded and wireworked jewelry, so I love creating different looks by combining the jewelry and the clothes in different ways.

But the only "fashion authority" I pay any attention to is ME. So I say, forget what the designers say -- wear what you enjoy wearing and pooh on anybody who thinks you're not "in fashion!"

So there! :-)

I actually have a rule that if I find something that I absolutely love and know I'll wear a lot, then I'll buy two! It'll last longer, and having a piece that you really feel good in is worth it.

If it's a really trendy dress it might not be a good idea to get more than one of the same style, but if it's a more-or-less timeless style and you love it, get however many you like in whatever colors you like! I have such a hard time finding things that fit well, when I find something that I really love I'll often buy at least one extra, just so that when the first one wears out I'll have a spare.

Since entering the working world I do this all all the time!! Especially since it's hard to find a pair of pants to fit a short gal size 12 w/ no hips. I have long sleeve shirts in multiple colors and styles from petite sophisticate- which is going out of business
. I also have shoes that are just different colors, everything. I figure, why go crazy trying to find something that flatters and fits if you can multiply it. So far no one has noticed since I combine stuff so many ways that I hardly ever wear the same outfit twice.

Movin' on up!
I have several tops - same style, different colors. Just this past Friday, I bought two silk shells and two pairs of satin pants. If they had come in more colors, I have bought more. Whenever jeans are on sale, I buy at least two pairs.

I also have several pairs of Frederick's stiletto pumps. They come in numerous colors.

I don't think anyone is really going to care that you have the same dress in 2 different colors. If you like it buy it

Go for it!

By just wearing different accessories, you can changed the 'look' of the dress so much, that people will not realise it is the same style.

Just make sure the accessories (such as scarves, jewellery.shoes etc..) are different for each of the outfits!
