Hello all!

I found this site a few nights ago and have been reading away. I love it. So I decided to join. (no other forum I found out there even compared!)

I have two kitties, this is the first time ever I have owned a cat. My BF though is a professional cat lover and is teaching me all that he knows. We have a great little family.

Any who. Polly, she is the first kitty we got, is a Short Haired, Blue Tabby, Polydactyl. Seven toes on the front feet and 6 toes on the back. She is only about 6 months old. We adopted her from the city shelter back in July. She is wonderful.

My dear BF brought home a stray kitten just last week he had seen hanging around the shop for a few days. THAT is a whole nother story all together. It has been a rough round of cleaning up after a sick kitty. The vet said it was just stress, but that information alone did not make picking up the piles of vomit and diarrhea any easier! I will have more stories about her in the stray section come tomorrow. She is a creamish/orange and white cat. SOOO cute. Still having diarrhea, but at least she can make it to the litter box now, and things seem to be stiffening up. We would like to keep her, but we want to make sure she hasn't a family that loves her somewhere. We posted many signs and still no word. She is so small and loving, i would hate to think someone dumped her. It appears she has been fixed as well. I plan on taking her to the vet sometime this week to see if she has a microchip. I can't feel one.

We haven't named her yet. If we can't find her true owners by next weekend, we will end up keeping her. i hope. She is so dear, plus her and Polly really realllllly like each other.

SO, there you have it in a very small nutshell. My life with kitties. I can't imagine it without them. And to think I am extreemly allergic!

I look forward to getting to know you all!

Kristin

Thanks!

Come to find out, most of Monday my BF was walking around with the kitten in his sweatshirt to keep her warm. He is a BMW mechanic and the shop is outdoors. (most things in Austin are this way, very neat town) He said he got a couple laughs cause to look at him, there was a tail out the one side of his front pocket and a head out the other. (you know the sweatshirts that have one big pocket in the front, you can put both hands in...) Walked around, worked on cars most the morning with her like that.

He came home that night and told me about her. I said we should go back to the shop and look for her. He said if she is still there tomorrow he would bring her home...

...I come home from school the next day and open the door. I hear kitty feet running to greet me, but the kitty was much smaller and the wrong color. It took me a second, but I had a good giggle and then went into the bedroom to console polly who had been locked up all morning.

That night he told me that another guy from the shop had tried to take her home that morning, and he had to put his foot down. Told his co-worker that he had dibs! They ended up playing 3 rounds of rock-paper-scissors!!! I was mortified when I found out that the kitty almost went to his co-worker and not us!! I hope we can keep her.

Hey, welcome. If your stray had been cared for in a loving home, she probably wouldn't be hanging around a garage sick and in need of attention, medical and otherwise. You did the right thing by taking her in, and God bless you for it. You will find yourself in good company here. Many big-hearted cat lovers in this forum--you should fit right in. Sounds like your BF could be a member, too. Thanks for joining us.

Thanks so much you guys!

It will just be Me, my BF and Polly in our house now. The kitty with no name went home tonight. Her owners saw our FOUND signs and called us.

I really hope it was the owners though. The people that called were people that live next to the shop my BF works for. I just didn't get that the cat really belonged to them. I REALLY hope I am wrong, and I REALLY hope they take good care of her.

I have resolved that if I or my BF see her out running around again, we will take her to the rescue south of here. She is WAY to little to be out and running around.

I am having a very hard time right now accepting her departure. She is SUPER sweet and loving. I got very attached to her, and to give her up to a situation that I don't feel is a good one is killing me.

I have been crying most of the night.

Thanks you guys!

For those of you that have been following along with the thread: You recall the little stray we had for a week, that I took home the other night?

Well my BF found her out and at his work again yesterday. He called the owner, she came and got her 2 hours later. If he sees her again, off to the shelter she goes. She deserves better than that!

She needed vet care! I told them that! And instead, they let her out, AGAIN!
