I just became a foster for my local cat shelter. They called me and told me they had 3 orpahned kittens that are in need of a foster mommy.

They are sisters whom ive named annabel, angel, and allie. Angel and allie are inseperatable. If one goes in a different room, the other cries to find it. But they dont pay attention to annabel. THough thats not the issue, Annabel is completly afraid of everything. If anyone comes in the room she is she runs away and will hide for the rest of the night, Though when i catch her i hold her like a baby and rub her and she purrs and fall asleep. Its like she wants to trust me, but once i let her go, shes afraid of me again. I try to show her everything to let her know i love her and im not going to hurt her. Treats wont even bribe her. I can get her sisters in a second with treats, not her.

any suggestions, comments, stories to help me help annabel. I dont want her to be so scared. And i want her to be able to find an adoptee so she wont end up a shelter car forever!

You can try TTouch...it's a method of animal care/behavior modification developed by Linda Tellington-Jones. She has used it all over the world on all kinds of animals, including shy or feral kittens, with great success. I work at an animal shelter & have been using it on frightened kitties...the response is just amazing & very gratifying to see. I learned the method from Ms. Tellington-Jones' book, but her website offers some good information to get you started. Check out this link http://tteam-ttouch.com/catttouch.shtml for more information. Good luck with little Annabel...she's so lucky to have someone like you to help her out.

Amanda, that is an AWESOME website!!!
I hope that you are able to share it with other TCS members - maybe it could be a separate thread, because it is such a great technique! I will mark it as one of my favorites, as I'm sure it will very useful for many people in the future!

That is the best website I have been able to find for TTouch, and I have looked. I am a massage therapist, and am planning to take some of my required continuing ed hours on animal massage. I am so excited about it, though it will not be any time soon.

Has anyone used this technique? Was it successful? I will try it on a feral kitten I have at home, because it can't hurt, but wonder if anyone has seen benefit?!?

Has this kitty been checked out to know that she sees and hears OK???
Seems odd to me that only 1 out of 3 would be so frightened all the time....and I wonder if there is a medical reason???
