On Wed, Tom woke me up by scratching the bed - when I looked, he had peed up the curtains. I wasn't bothered, just made a mental note to ring the vet as his cystitis has flared up again!! While waiting to go to the vets for his weigh in (and pick up some meds), he weed on the bathroom floor. I have put an extra litter tray down, which seems to have gone down well, and bought an extra water bowl for him yesterday (had 5, but none of the cats will drink out of two of them, so they are going to be donated to the rescue). He isn't allowed any dry food, despite it being Hills c/d. I am wondering how this will affect his chances of being rehomed - at the moment, he is 12, obese (and seriously so), and this is his second bout of cystitis since July - one vet diagnosed him with struvite crystals, my vet said that crystals are no longer an issue as 80-90% of cats have them. I have heard about cranberry being good, but think I should talk the vet first - I also wonder if his cystitis will ease off when (if) he loses weight. I love this cat to bits, and am tempted to keep him (he is so much more loving and affectionate than either of my cats), but can't afford a third, never mind one that has ongoing health issues - he does have a home as long as it takes for him to get to the stage where he can be rehomed though.

He has peed on the kitchen floor since I posted that, so obviously isn't much better!! Might have to see if my friend can pop in a few times tomorrow to try and get a urine sample out of him.
