Hi! Our mama catYazzi is kitten free after 9weeks. And now she is acting naughty, before becoming pregnant, she used to pee "on occasion" in places inaproppraite and all thru the PG and while nursing babies she was good no peeing problems. But in the first week of being solo of kitties, she is acting nuaghty again. Two days in a row she has peed on the floor and on a pillow(of all places), I swear she is depressed or upset and I can't blame her. We are going to get her fixed and all but do you think it will help? We even considered giving her to the people who took her last kitten? I feel like I am cleaning my self right out of the cat life. I am not sure what to do. I don't suspect a UTI, this seems more behavior than health issues. She meows thru the night(looking for babies) and sleeps all day.

Thanks for any kind of feedback!

My educated guess, is that she is right back in heat again. You should have her spayed as soon as possible.

YES! And do not let her outside until you do.
The peeing is prob because she is going back into heat, now that you`ve given the kittens away.
You`ll be sooo glad when you get her fixed. (Altho the hormones might not settle down for a couple of weeks after.

Yep she is in heat you were right...wow so fast after kittens and her milk isn't even all dried up...we also got a call tonite a family is REALLY wanting a manx they are VERY interested in her. I am ready to let her go but I want to be sure that they get her fixed and not let her breed again! They want her tomorrow...How would I get them to agree or contract that they will get her fixed. Any ideas here...

I think the only way you can make sure she gets spayed is if you do it yourself. Can you ask for an adoption fee to cover her spaying? Then use that to have her spayed before you give her away or actually pick her up from their home and spay her yourself whenever she's in sufficient post-pregnancy shape to get fixed.

Are they aware of her peeing problems? I would have a hard time giving away a kitty who pees inapproriately, because I would be afraid how she would be treated. Let them know of her peeing problem, and that she is still grieving the loss of her kittens.

Tell them you will get her spayed, and give her a week to recover. By then maybe she will quit peeing, and you can rehome her.

IMO it would be cruel to rehome her now. Sugartoes cried all the way home after we dropped off Twinkie (Rusty). Some animals DO miss their babies, and she needs to recover from that before losing her home. The spay surgery will help her a lot.

Her peeing problem in this case, is called marking. She's in heat and is urinating to attract a male. The calling she is doing , isn't mourning the loss of her kittens. It's also being done to attract a mate. That's why she's doing it at night. Once she goes out of heat or is spayed, she will stop the calling and most likely all of the peeing.

I agree she should be spayed prior to going to a new home and 2 weeks should be the minimum recovery time at the home she is already used to.
Many vets charge twice as much to spay a queen in heat as one that is in between cycles. Also if she is still producing milk, the vet may not do the surgery at all until she stops.

Hi! Well the family that wanted her, got her today. I had to drive 2 hrs to meet them 1/2 way. This new family are "well aware" of everything about this cat. Today was the most convenient day for both of us as when we tryed to figure out our schedules nothing coincided. So we said our goodbyes to good girl Yazzi and away we went, the new family are absolute animal lovers they have "show dogs", and this new owner is known to rescue cats and rehome them herself they live on an acreage and have an apparently excellent vet, that knows he is going to meet this new cat soon. This family had a MANX before that lived 17 yrs and they have been anxiously waiting for another one.

I gave her (Yazzi)up today on their own good condition that they were prepared to get her spayed ASAP. The new owner agreed and will call me this week to confirm with me all is good. I trusted this family upon meeting them, they appeared fine and genuine. I am glad it is all done now. I can move on,,,,
Thanks for your support I will give you updates as I hear them.
