How did you make out??

We hit Comp USA at midnight. Unfortunately they had VERY limited supply of the Bluetooth Headset (cell phone accessory) that Earl really wanted, but we still managed to get some good deals. I desperately needed a new mouse for home, and we found a Microsoft Wireless scrolling mouse with the tilt scroll (too cool!) for $17 after instant rebates. Of course Earl needed one of those too.
He got a game that is still going for $60+ (Battlefield 2) for $30, so he's getting that for Christmas.

We came home, napped for 3 hours, and headed back out at 5:00 to Linens N Things for the coolest Christmas Tree! The ad said it was normally $229, on sale for $99. Once we had it in hand, we saw that the real LNT price for the tree is $129. Ah well, it was more than a bit deceiving, but it's still the best tree that we saw in any of the ads (it has both white and multi-colored lights, and a remote control which can choose white/multi/both). Grabbed the tree, hit the checkout, went to McDonalds for some breakfast, and we were back home and in bed by 6:30.

We didn't get, or want, any of the big-ticket items, but we're happy with our Black Friday shopping.
And no fist fights that we saw anyway!

SOunds like you made out well Heidi

I didn't exactly plan on going out shopping today, but since the dog arrived I had to go to Target for doggy supplies and was not excited about going since today is Black Friday. I hate crowds! But I did well, made it out in about 20 minutes with everything and was able to check out in the express lane with no wait. The other lines were terribly long.

Well I survived and actually got a really great deal! We got up at 1am in the 3 degree cold....it was freezing! We waited at best buy from 1:45-4:45. When they started handing out the tickets for items. The notebook I wanted was gone by the time it got to me.....so American TV opened at 6 so we flew there and only about 7 or 8 people were in line. We got to go in at 5:45 and it was sooo very organized! I was first in line for the IPOD Nano with a few speaker set and my husband got in line to get my awesome notebook. The best buy computer had instant rebates and this one had mail- in ones. But I got a free wireless router that we would have had to buy at Best Buy! So all in all it was great! Pulse I got it today and I'm currently on it! Its really a shared present....so we both got it early!

I don't shop on Black Friday because everything that's there is the same stuff that's always there, and if you get it on any other day, you don't have to wake up early
. If I was in to sales, I would love to go. I like the sense of community you get when you know you're all there for the same reason.

Congratulations on all your goodies!

I managed to go to Victoria's Secret and get that nifty "super model" tote bag filled with goodies, free with purchase
I also went to LS Ayers and got this beautiful china set from Mikasa (parchment design)- the entire set for $179.00!!!!!!!! That is almost $700 in china!! I love the day after Thanksgiving! We hadn't gotten any of our china pattern for a wedding present, so this was extra great!!

This morning I had my husband go to wal-mart. He got there at 3:30 and the sale started at 5. I really wanted this laptop for $378 and he said people started arriving at 2, and there were only twenty and at 3:30 about fourty people were lined up. I was SO mad he wasn't able to get it because these redneck people started grabbing like three and four at time and blocking other people off with their carts. Same thing with the flat screen tvs, but he was able to grab a new printer-copier-scanner and a travel DVD player with car kit. He said it was pretty brutal and people were pushing and shoving. I'm glad I didn't go.

I waited until late in the day - I didn't leave the house until about 4:00. However, I also didn't have any "must buy" items, so there was no urgency. I hit up Target, Old Navy, and Tuesday Morning. Old Navy had some really good deals. Some sizes were hard to find (surely were bought out early this morning) but there were still some great deals. I bought a pair of chords, a pull-over fleece, and a microfiber hoodie for about $40.

That there is the reason I DON"T go out on Black Friday! People turn into animals. But then again, the retailers bring it on. Anyway, I stayed in and did some shopping online as well as promoting my own business online. I didn't have to fight with anyone!

I love Mikasa, that is what we have for our china- a now discontinued pattern called Remembrance, an Ivory Bone Floral with gold swirl and trim.

Your price sounds outstanding!!

Movin' on up!
I only went to one place - Old Pueblo Traders. They had their monthly back room sale today. Everything is $3.99. They handed out numbers and let 100 people in, at 8. I was in by 8:30 but all they had was grandma clothes and stuff I wouldn't wear to a dogfight.

Went up front, to the main store and bought 2 long-sleeved silk shells, at $7.99 each and two pairs of satin pants, for $9.99 each. They had a gorgeous purple sequined suit but, I didn't want to pay $80 for it. I'll wait until their annual dress sale and buy it for under $40.

I avoided the malls and WalMart. Since I bought cat food and litter, last week, I didn't need to go this week.

Even if I could have gone shopping today, I wouldn't have. I could not go for two important reasons: First, Peekaboo had to go to the vet for dental surgery. (It went well.) Second, my neice spent the night after TG and we really wanted to visit with her as much as possible. Other than that, I refuse to even think about shopping until I am drug kicking and screaming into the store.

Even though i used to work retail and i swore i would never either work or shop on Black FRiday and havent done either in several several years, i got up at 430 to get to our walmart a bit early to get a 6.1 MP digital camera for 199.00- it wasnt near as bad as i thought. I got in and out of the store in less than 30 minutes-- 15 of those minutes were waiting in line. Not bad. Got my digital camera which i LOVE, another SD card and 2 movies for my kids for a total of 225.00$ not bad if i say so myself, especially in such a short time. Didnt go anywhere else-- most of the store in my area are doing Mail In Rebate sales-- i dont want to wait 8 weeks for my money back i want to save NOW. Its not even worth it for me to mess with the crowds for a Mail In Rebate offer. I might go back next year if its something i really want.

I didn't go to any of the discount stores or the mall. I have to of all things buy a spool pf thread to finish a craft project/present. That store was pretty busy. The bad thing is when I put it in my sewing machine-the tension messes up so I have to venture back to buy the regular thread instead!!!! Then went to goodwill-both locations as one had an awesome selection of used books. My godson also wanted "classic literature" book and I had printing off from times.com there best 50 books. I ended up buying 13 books some where for me anyhow but I'm keeping a few more plus some mini christmas ball ornaments and a small ironstone gravyboat (that was only $1.29!!) So about $44 spent at goodwill. Then I went to a I think Wisconsin only record shop (the Exclusive Company) I trolled through their used CD and boought a bunch-one funny one for my sis as a gag gift-if any disco era people remember KC & The Sunshine Band-they had a 25th anniversary 2 disc CD!! What memories!!
Bought a take and bake pizza and rented some movies and that was it for me.
Mom & sis are shopping in Richmond VA today so I should have some ideas for them tomorrow...
I heard that it was crazy at the big box stores however-NO THANKS!!!

My mom said that fists fights broke out at Walmart and that people got arrested for slamming into each other. Apparently somebody slammed someone else's head into the floor. Insane! All over some stupid big screen tv, of which they only had two in stock. Nuts!! No one was trying to punch me over my china, thank goodness. And Pat & Alix, I love Mikasa too! They have so many beautiful patterns, it was hard to chose. The price tag on "parchment" was too good to pass up, plus it was in my top three patterns already.

Sounds like a lot of people here got some real bargains!

I have to say...I avoid Wal Mart and Best Buy like the plague on Black Friday. Those people are insane! Best Buy, Circuit City, Comp USA...well, most of the big electronics retailers, have started giving out vouchers or tickets for the big ticket items like the computers and TVs that they know a lot of people will want. That's to avoid people getting trampled and attacked like they do at Wal Mart. Some of the people who go to WM for BF sales just plain scare me!!!

I also avoided the 3 Wal Marts that are 15 minutes from my house, went to Target. Inside of store at 6:15am and out at 7:00am with about 90% of my list. Come back home for a bit and went out in the afternoon to the mall which was not as packed to get some gift cards. It was the nicest Black Friday experience I've had.
