Hi! I'm new and I just posted yesterday about someone dumping a kitten on our farm....we've brought him inside, took a trip to the vet and he is doing well.....Well, five minutes ago my husband got home and had another kitten in his arms!!!!If I didn't know better,I'd swear they were from the same litter! They are almost exactly the same size and look very much alike except this one is pure black and smokie is gray. They immediately liked each other. I don't know if 'they" dumped the first one and then got sick of taking care of this one too and dumped it too or if its just a different kitten from someone else.It is sooo cold out here.it was a low of 12 degrees...HOW COULD THEY DO THAT!!!! We live way out in the country and have had this happen before...people just drive by after dark, throw it out and think we'll take care of it since we are on a farm...which has always been true. They have always been full sized cats before and we've just kept them in the barn, but its too cold for a kitty without a momma so now it looks like I have two?????EEK! I hope this doesn't keep happening. My husband just rolls his eyes(he secretly likes them just won't admit it---found smokie perched on his shoulder watching tv with him the other night.....he's warming up to them). He had previously been a "all animals belong outside" type of person. So it looks like, off to the vet for this one for shots, worming(poss)and a good exam. My son wants to call him bagel...don't ask. The funny thing was,I did chores this morning and didn't see the kitten so I'm assuming someone dumped him in broad daylight...or else they dumped him last night and he hid out cause he was so scared and now he's hungry.....He WOLFED down the kitty food.poor guy. He's now asleep on a blanket in the bathroom with Smokie. ahhhhhhhhh.

another question...forgot to ask....does this mean I have to get another litter box now or can two kittens share one? I'm guessing they are 10-12 weeks old. The black one is a little smaller and thinner, maybe because its not been taken care of as good? Its a decent sized bathroom, but the way I have things arranged, two wouldn't work well????Maybe I'll have to buy one for another part of the house if you guys think I need two. Maybe I'll get lucky and they will be fine with sharing if I clean twice a day.I have no problem with that!
Thanks in advance....gotta go for the night.

Sadly, some people think that because they are cats they will automatically survive. It is a state of denial in my mind. If they think that, then this cancels out the real dangers of the kitten starving to death, getting run over, getting killed by another predator or dying from exposure

If you only want one litter box...then buy some aluminum pans from your local supermarket and place them with a little litter throughout your house. Kittens are like kids...they don't always know ahead of time that it is time to go, so the best thing to do is to provide several locations for them to reach the litter.

Good for you & your husband! Bless you for taking in these little ones; how compassionate & generous you are!
I hope that your local community has programs that will assist in paying for all or at least most of the costs of neutering & innoculations.

As far as getting help with the neutering...its 37.50 a cat so we are okay with that. We have given them both revolution also. I have also given them their first set of shots.Being farmers,we are used to giving animals, big and small, their shots and can do it as well as the vet....so I just buy the shots that are needed from the farm/home store and give them to my animals on the right schedule. The only shot I ever have the vet give is the rabies since we legally can't. Plus I want it officially documented. I do routine stool samples on our dogs already. The shots are only 3.99 a piece---can't beat that...it would cost me 20 a piece to have the vet give it. Once you "get over it' it is really quite simple.
The two boys are doing so well together(I still think they may be from same litter) and they are a joy!!!!!!!!

Prices are so reasonable in your area! That is wonderful! I paid $120 for Joey's neuter.
And that is great that you innoculate your own animals
