Hi! I've been lurking and reading for a few weeks and just now joined. I have a new male kitten we've named Smokie. He is gray with some white on his chest. He was dumped on our farm so I don't know his age,but the vet says he's probably about 10-12 weeks old. He is doing wonderfully in the house. He uses his litterbox faithfully(and I'm cleaning it faithfully) and is just soooo sweet. Reading all the "cat not using litterbox" threads kinda got me worried, but I realized that no one is going to post a "my cat uses its litterbox' thread.. We got him these lightweight plastic balls that have a bell inside. He scoots those things all over our hardwood floors. He also loves this toy that is on a string with a bell and little feather thingy on the end. He will literally play for hours with it! We keep his litterbox in our large bathroom and keep him in there when we are not home. It is "catproofed" in there. I am not yet brave enough to give him full run of the house when we are at work. I worry that he may get hurt/hurt something yet. He seems very content in there.Lots of toys, a blanket, food, water and litterbox. Our vet says to wait till he is 5 months old to neuter him. I was wondering if this sounds right. I don't want him to hit "puberty" and start spraying.
Just wanted to introduce myself. I am married with three boys,by the way....who also adore Smokie!
