My little girl Cleo is constantly flopping down on her side when she's around us. If I blink at her, she makes that 'brrrrrr' noise and then flops down and shows her belly. If I pet Alex, Cleo flops down and shows her belly. She does it all the time. It's funny too, she doesn't lay down and roll over, she literally flops down on her side and then shows her belly. This is a submissive behavior isn't it? She's telling me she knows I'm in charge I guess. The funny thing is, Alex never does this, but I think he's the lowest on the pecking order. I put food down for them at the same time, but Cleo will push Alex off to eat first so I thought she was dominant over him.

It is a sign of love and trust, I think. I only have one cat who flops, too. Garfield will just throw himself onto the floor at your feet. He is my biggest lovebug.

Yup, she's saying, "Hi, I know you! You're always good to me! Please feel free to rub my furry little tummy if you like!"

And that's an offer too good to pass up! :-)

Some of mine do that too. Pooka is the most exagerated, he doesn't flop, he goes rigid and falls to a side. Sometimes you can even hear him *ponk*

Aisea cuddles up to me and then shows me his tummy. And Popoki will streeeeeeeeeeetch at the same time. Reya has to be in a sitting position, she doesn't like being on her back. And Perla likes to be tummy rubbed, but when she standing. They're all funny

If I go to rub her tummy, she rabbit-kicks and play bites. She never puts claws out or bites hard though.

Garfield actually hates to have his tummy pet most of the time. I may get one stroke in, but generally I take flopping as an invitation to pet him on his head or scritch his ears!
