All right, I'm making some easily tranportable things, but also a pumpkin pie. Which I really don't want to hold on my lap for three hours. Anyone have any bright ideas on how to transport it?

How about...putting it in a big square baking pan, and putting tin foil and maybe small plastic cups or yarn or something around it, in the pan, so that it can't slide back and forth in the pan, and then covering it with a couple layers of plastic wrap? Just a raw idea off the top of my head--never tried it...

My mum used to buy these styrofoam container things and put food into them they come in all different shares and sizes so she would use one just big enough and put foil or something in the corners to stop it sliding. I have done the same with tupperware containers since the styrofoam ones aren't so easy to find here.

Pizza boxes. Go to a local pizza place and buy some new boxes that don't smell like pizza. Use bunched up paper or plastic bags to fill any space in the box so the pie dosn't bounce around, you can stack these boxes in the backseat or trunk.

In the supermarkets here you can buy empty pie/cake containers at their bakery departments...maybe you can try that...if you are brave enough to go into the stores today!

OR...(I think this might be easier) try a square/rectangular cake pan (or whatever it's called), put the pie in it, and put crumpled-up newspaper in the spaces so it doesn't slide around in the pan, and cover it with tin foil or plastic wrap. Hmm?

What great ideas! I am transporting 2 pies, not for 3 hours, but I'd still like to get them there in one piece. Thanks to everyone for their creativity!
