Over 20 cats & 2 dogs lost - Sweet, precious lives lost in the explosion at the shelter, please cross over RB knowing that you were in that place at that time because we humans were only trying to help.
Prayers & vibes for your cellmates who escaped & now are wandering loose in 35degree West VA cold, and for the repairman who has suffered 2nd & 3rd degree burns - he was only trying to fix the furnace to keep you all warm.
I mourn for you all........

Poor cats. What a tragic loss for all. The shelter does not have the insurance to cover the repairs either. Time to start spreading the word so that we can help this shelter get back on its feet and helping animals.
Its a testiment to the people who work here risking their lives trying to save the trapped cats inside.
We all should say a special thanksgiving to those people and those poor animals that were trapped. I am thankful that they were inside warm not knowing of their fate. I am thankful that there are people who care about their loss and risked their lives to save them. i am thankful that their death did not go unnoticed. and I am thankful for sites like this who promote care and loving to our companion animals especially cats.

There's no place like home
There was a local aniaml rescue woman that died this week in a tragic accident. She was surely met at the bridge by the hundreds of animals she helped during her life. I'd like to think she is there greeting these poor babies.

This is all too sad for words.....

Condolences Amy on the loss of your local rescuer. One good worker makes such a difference, her loss is a big one.
And what a tragedy in that shelter! I cannot imagine the heartbreak to those workers! And the poor animals out in the cold!

Just heartbreaking!

Amy (BTW, my newest kitten is named Amy Rose, I love the name Amy so much!), my condolences on the loss to your community of a valuable AR lady, but thank you for letting us know that she is there at RB to greet these poor babies! It is indeed a comfort to me, for this story has been so haunting. Thank you all who responded to this post - though these cats & dogs are not "ours" we cared about & loved them just the same. Thank you TCS members!
