Hey Forumites,

I have a cat that is extremely fussy and healthy at the same time. He has a active life and very beautiful shiny coat. Yet, when he eats, for an unknown reason, he throws up.

We have tried many different foods both wet and dry, and even the amount we feed him.

Three trips to the VET only cost us $150 and no answers.

It doesn't seem to effect his health, yet he isn't getting any bigger as a cat. Any suggestions?

Sounds like my moms girl piper - she has food allergies. Most of the problems are caused by intolerances to wheat, corn, soy. Have you tried holisic foods such as :

Life's Abundance
Felidae

Piper is now on Life's Abundance and no more throw ups.

Some cats eat too much too quickly and throw up the undigested food. If this is the case, try putting smooth clean river pebbles in the food dish (large enough not to be mistaken for food). Having to eat around the rocks will force the cat to slow down.

Also, try feeding kibbles that are very small. I found that with my barfer, she would not throw up Science Diet or any other in which the pieces were small, but she does throw up larger kibble.

Also, make sure you feed a good quality food. The better the quality, the less likely this will happen.

elevate the food dish
get a simple formula( one meat one grain or two meat two grain food)
get a hairball formula/ this is personal experience all I can figure is the extra fiber sends it the right way
Contact a DIFFERENT VEt
... if kitty is over 7 a senior panel

My cat vomited after his meals for years. I worked at a vet's office; he had a complete work-up (blood panel, X-rays, ultrasound, urinalysis, etc.) mulitple times with no conclusive findings. Then one day my husband suggested we switch the type of bowl he was eating from. The high-sided dish & his method of getting the kibble out was apparently forcing him to swallow lots of air while eating. When we changed to a low-sided dish, the vomiting stopped. Just a thought...

To be honest - due to the weight loss I would bring your baby in for a check up, just to make sure everything is OK. So, unless your vet says different just give her time - it took her 2 months to loose and it will take her a while to gain (it should be gradual for it to be healthy)

I second all of this - Bumper has allergies to certain food dyes and so will throw food with the dye back up.

Also as well as the pebbles try raising the food bowl a few inches so he does not have to bend over so much to eat (think leaning over to touch your toes and eating at the same time) my vet recommends a city yellow pages (3-4") as a size guage.
