Didn't get a lot of sleep last night. Kept thinking I heard noises, but the dog was quiet. But except for that brief episode where I thought we were in the middle of shooting of the COPS show, all was calm. This morning, Bailey woke me up he is getting a lot better and right now it is snowing outside, though not sticking. We will be working on the house today, framing in another wall and putting in wiring. Thank God for Mike's skill in all these areas.

My stepson called last night so stoked. Many years ago he was married with 2 kids and life got messy, they had a bad divorce with a lot of hatred and hard feelings and she left with the kids and he never saw them again. Just this week, his son has called him and he is going to meet with his son and daughter for the first time in over 10 years! He is nervous and happy and excited and scared. He was always such a good dad, but was young and he and his wife were having so many problems. I am just glad he can be a part of this kids life now, and that they want him to be. He has since remarried, but the only kids they have are cats at the moment.

Hope everyone has a good day- Anne I hope you check in, I heard about the terrorist bombing in Kfar Saba this morning on the news.
Please be safe!

Good morning all. Hissy, how exciting for your son. It is so sad when a family gets ripped apart like that. It happened in my family with my cousins and uncle, luckily everyone is on speaking terms now, but it did take a long time.

I wish people would learn to get along. I can't stand all the violence and hatred in the world. It seems we haven't learned all that much over the centuries, at least not about letting bygones be bygones. I work in an urban middle school, and we just had a nasty, bloody fight between 2 8th graders last week. I just don't get it. They want to fight to prove they aren't afraid of the other kid.

In another incident, a girl was crying, not because she got hurt, but because she didn't get a chance to hit back. She was planning to go to the other girl's house after school and get even. What are we doing wrong?

It's gray and rainy here. We haven't had our usual snow this winter, and sometimes get a late one in March. I hope that doesn't happen this year. I have to go to Philadelphia this week for a bilingual educators conference. I get to miss 4 days of school for this.
Just when I need the break, there it is.

I really do like my students, but we are getting a little tired of each other by this point.:tounge2:

I also have to move some of my stuff today. My fiance and I decided to move when our rent went up $40 this year, almost the same raise as the last 3 years combined. Time to go. Luckily, his best friend owns a house with a huge 2nd floor apartment that we are going to rent, at a much cheaper price. And we have been slowly moving our possessions, so when it's time to move the furniture, we just have to move the furniture.

I was a little distressed when the book and CD collection went into boxes, but I took out what I thought I would read/listen to, and am surviving. Isn't is terrible how attached to material things we can get?

I hope everyone has a peaceful, relaxing day.

That is great that he will be able to make amends w/ his children, Hissy. I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to not be able to see your own kids!

Its gorgeous here, bright and sunny. I have pizza in the oven and I started my spring cleaning. I tackled the kitchen today, moved everything around so I could clean under and behind stuff. yuck. I hate seeing whats there, its usually so dusty and dirty. Ick.

happy sunday everyone!

Sunny day. Little girl's outside playing, good for her. I have a TON of laundry to manage today. I'll get to it, just not happy about it.

Have corned beef and potatoes in the crock pot, a New England boiled dinner for St. Pat's. I have cabbage, but I'm going to cook it in another pot, or maybe the microwave. Meat and potatoes will be popular and need to cook for a while, but the cabbage won't take nearly as long and frankly, even tho' she likes broccoli, I don't expect my girl to be much interested in the cabbage and I don't want the flavor to 'pollute' the other foods.

Sparky has been to the vet again and got an antibiotic for his tail injury. I guess I've been too overwhelmed with other things and having 3 cats to notice how out-of-it he's been. In less than 24 hours, he has stolen chicken off my daughter's plate, gone back to nursing off Blackie, come out to the living room a dozen times to glare and hiss at Fred, climbed up on the sofa, and 'yelled' at me until I petted him. I didn't even notice he wasn't doing these things! I feel like a bad mommy, but I didn't have the money to take him before Fri afternoon anyway.

Hissy, I'm so glad for your stepson! His heart must have ached for those children all this time (at least I imagine fathers love their children like mothers do), and finally he'll get to meet them.
