Hey Ya'll. I have a 4 year old domestic short hair that has been acting strangely lately. She is in and out of the litter box all day, maybe 10-15 times per hour. I thought it was Diarrhea at first so I took her to the Vet. I was given medicine (oral) but I havent seen any changes. She still eats and drinks normally, just has tiny bowel movements all day. At times she actually sits in the litter box for a few minutes and nothing comes out.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Is it possible she's trying to urinate? If so, then she needs a vet immediately. She could be developing a life-threatening blockage.

She may be...im not sure. Is there any way i could tell if thats the case besides actually looking inside the litter box (she goes so often there is no way to really keep track).

Set up a new litter box , all clean litter, and each time she goes in see if anything comes out. If its a renal thing I'd definatly get her back to the vet. You can end up with kidney probs and some cats will get bladder stones and these can be quite serious.

Mind you, it's usually an ultrasound to find a bladder stone.

Also look for dark coloured or strong smelling urine if she actually is able to urinate.

Would straining to urinate cause her to release small pieces of fecal matter as well? Because thats pretty much what makes up the contents of the litter. Also, she has been rubbing her anus across the bed and leaving brown marks everywhere.

The vet needs to do a more thorough check of this cat. SOMETHING IS WRONG and it could be life threatening. Don't wait.
