Hi there- I am new to this group. I have enjoyed going through and reading all the information on this site.

I live in central Ohio. We just adopted our 8th kitty from a nearby shelter. We had a young cat, Lilybet,1 1/2 years old, die suddenly about 2 weeks ago from cardiomyopathy. It was all very sudden. We took her to an emergency vet, but she died moments after we walked through the door. She had successfully gone through a spay, and no sign of any problems.
They said there was a remote chance of it being FIP, but they doubted it.

Of course, out of my 8 cats, she was the one that was MINE. Nothing will bring her back, but deciding to adopt another from the shelter has eased the pain a little.

All our cats are shelter cats or were strays. (I have fantasized about a pure-bred cat, and have nothing against them, but I always end up with moggies.)

We have Thomas, Felix, Hobbes, Smeagol, Chumley, Smitty, Cricket and last but not least, Norah, who we adopted last week. They range in age from 10 years down to about 6-8 months. They are all thoroughly spoiled and loved.

I would be interested to hear how some of you out there have coped with chronic herpes in cats-- 2 of mine have that. Mainly chronic sneezing. My vet suggested L-Lysine (something like that) but I am wondering how to get them to take pills every day!

Sorry this is so long; again, hello to everyone!

Welcome to TCS

I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of your kitty Lilybet
If you feel up to it, maybe you could post a tribute to her in our Rainbow Bridge forum so that we can all honour her

How wonderful it must be to have so many cats in the one house!! wish I could do that.

As mentioned - post your question in the health section so that our more knowledgeable members on health will see it.

Can we see some pictures? if so head over to our fur pictures forum and let us all admire them

welcome again from me and my boys
