Hi, I am hoping you can help me...

A few months ago I wrote on this forum about my cat Shadow who had gotten sick. We found out she had a bladder infection (caught her peeing in the office instead of upstairs in her litter box), but beyond that, they did not know what it was.

They gave her some medication and she got all better.

Or so we assumed...

Lately she's been acting like her old self, even fighting her way into the bedroom (don't know how she can get that door open - I have trouble with it cuz it sticks, but she does it!) to sleep with us like she used to. She's eating fine, etc etc. The only thing that is the same as when she was sick is that she walks funny... like something is wrong with her back end.

And she's peeing in the storage room where I know keep her kitty litter box. Not IN the box, but NEAR it... she goes poop in it and I have been keeping it clean too... but she pees beside it, not in it. I don't always catch her, cuz I'm not always around. I only notice if I happen to look in right after she's done it and I see the wet spot.

Why would she be doing this? I've tried different kitty litters thinking it might be that, I tried making sure I kept it clean (makes no difference, clean or dirty she goes beside it, except for poop, she does that in it).

Any suggestions? We were thinking maybe she has a bladder infection again, but wouldn't that mean she would just go anywhere? Why travel all the way to where her litter box is, only to go beside it?

I'm so confused, I don't know what to do...

I would take her to the vet to rule out a medical issue such as a UTI. When our cat had a UTI he would also go near, but not in the litter box.

yes.. i do agree with silverbook. Although UTI is common on male cats but female cats do hv this. Get her to the vet n do a thorough medical check up... if this had been quite frequent, maybe her diet need to be changed as well....

She could be stressed,
kaylee will piss Out of the box next to it, to let me know she doesnt like the smell of it inside.. even though its clean i have to empty it again and wash it down with lemon stuff, then she will go and pee in it again.
