I was told that kittens could have diseases. Here's the deal. I recently got a kitten which is about 6 weeks old. It was found outside in the cold last week. It looks ok right now, but do you think I should get it checked and if so, when should they be checked for disease?

You should have it seen by a vet...it probably needs it's first distemper shot. Since you found it outdoors, it may have worms (most kittens do)..so it probably needs a dewormer. Also..the tests that you are asking about are FELV/FIV and the vet can test for those as well.

Yes you definitely need to have the kitten checked by a vet for worms, and first vaccines, etc.
